Shâraban was a city that was destroyed during one of Hyarmendacil II Vinyarion's earlier campaigns. Though the king is famous for his aggressive actions against the Haradrim, he would return to Shâraban in a different fashion years later. On his tenth and last pilgrimate to Harad, he repented of his long campaign, and wept at the bones of Shâraban, the city he had destroyed in the days of his youth. While returning from this pilgrimage, he rested at the hilltop fort of Kasukhín, and died there, peacefully, in his sleep.
