Bestowal Dialogue

'Well met, traveller. I have a question, and I was wondering if you could help me find the answer. Historically, we have had many problems with Men coming to An Shêru to pillage its once rich resources. The result is the landscape you see around you today.

'In an earlier age, we went to war with Men who wanted the greatest treasure of all, Jiret-menêsh. This war ended with an agreement that Men were allowed to mine in other parts of An Shêru, but there were provisions that they cause no harm to the land and do not mar its beauty. Their king swore an Oath to this, and for many generations of Men, the Oath was kept.

'When these Ordâkhai arrived from the south, they did not know of this oath, though it was made on behalf of all Men. But I do not think they would have cared, even if they had known about it. They cut down and hauled off all of the trees to fuel their war machine. They dug pit-mines... horrible things, those.

'Their final blow was the Din of Stone, causing massive unnatural earthquakes that surely collapsed many mines and stopped the flow of the Usâl River. It was then that Châmelek Gêta had had enough of Men and sealed the doors of Jiret-menêsh shut to the outside world.

'I cannot help but wonder, though, did all of the other mines collapse? Could any of them be reopened? In what state will we find the pit-mines? Since you are unafraid to traverse this land, would you be willing to visit these locations and tell me how they fare? I am most curious about Erakúndo, Gebarakór, Adazâr, and Lâkindar.'

Background

Men have mined in An Shêru for hundreds of years, but the Din of Stone was powerful and likely collapsed the mines not of dwarf-design.

Objective 1

Kufâro has asked you to visit the locations of other mines in An Shêru and assess their condition. Erakúndo and Gebarakór are near each other in southern An Shêru. Adazâr is in the far western part of the region, and Lâkindar is in the south-west corner.

This is an open pit-mine still in use by the Ordâkhai
This mine is called 'The Spent-lodes' and is possibly collapsed
Adazâr is sealed shut and overrun with kergrim
Lâkindar is in good condition but is haunted by shades and wights

Objective 2

You have visited the locations of other mines in An Shêru and assessed their condition. You should return to Kufâro in Jiret-menêsh.

Kufâro: 'Hah! Of course Lâkindar still stands proud! Nothing is as strong as dwarf stone-craft! If this Erakúndo is called the Spent-lodes, exploration there may be a waste of time, though we dwarves may yet find seams missed by the Men who named it so.
'The Ordâkhai mine is an open pit to this day? Zigêt! I hope that one day we are able to oust those worthless wretches. Or better yet, someone else does it for us! This Arch of Adazâr is intriguing. From your description, it sounds like it is the work of Shagâni Men, before the coming of Ordâkh.
'Well, <name>, you have given me much to think about! Thank you for sating my curiosity.'
