Walkthrough & Notes

This instance is challenging to solo even if over-levelled, because in the second phase after having defeated the 8 veteran guardsmen, it is required to both burn 40 tents (by clicking on the bonfire to get a torch and running past the tents) and defeat any NPCs who approach the bonfire (the fellowship will lose if 6 NPCs get to the bonfire). The NPCs begin to spawn as soon as the first tent set ablaze and more comes every few seconds. Note that while carrying a torch it is not possible to use any skills as carrying is channelled. It's a good idea to use speed buffs before clicking the bonfire. If needed, right-click the channel to drop the torch.

Bestowal dialogue Midnight Raid "The servants of Saruman have laid claim to the ancient forges of Eregion. Savage Dunlendings have raised their encampment around one such forge. The men of Dunland must be routed if the crucibles of the forge are to burn once more...." Background Unbeknownst to the Dunlendings in Eregion, their largest camp has been built upon an ancient Elf-forge where some of the finest weapons of the early Third Age were once wrought. In order to gain access to this forge, Perimbant has devised a daring plan to raid the camp via the river by moonlight, sneaking in to overcome the guards and set fire to much of the camp, scattering the unsuspecting defenders in the chaos of battle and flame. Background Unbeknownst to the Dunlendings in Eregion, their largest camp has been built upon an ancient Elf-forge where some of the finest weapons of the early Third Age were once wrought. In order to gain access to this forge, Perimbant has devised a daring plan to raid the camp via the river by moonlight, sneaking in to overcome the guards and set fire to much of the camp, scattering the unsuspecting defenders in the chaos of battle and flame. Objective 1 You must weaken the camp's response to your attack by ambushing and eliminating a number of their veteran guardsman before the main phase of the assault begins. Defeat veteran guardsmen (0/8) [FAIL IF] Bonfire Doused (0/6) Objective 2 Grab torches from the bonfire in the centre of the Dunlanding camp and set fire to as many tents as possible in order to create panic and disorder.
