Walkthrough & Notes

If doing solo, you can let a few die while concentrating on one mobs at a time. The elven soldiers are rather squishy. If your class can tank, use that spec. You will face many Orc-warriors, some Orc-shamans, and a few Mountain Trolls, with the occasion Biting Shrew. This is a solo quest but may be done with any number of people. Talk to the quest giver twice in order to start the timer and battle, it's like "travel now" except no travel. Go down the ladder and DO NOT go fight with the soldiers... the way to do this more easily is to pull the aggro onto yourself and back up so you are at or behind the Ladder. If you are melee, then go in, aoe and pull them back. The soldiers will help, but will not be taking damage this way. This tactic makes it possible to truly solo this quest because the Orcs do not move beyond the place where the soldiers start. When the first wave has been defeated, the next wave is waiting for the soldiers to reset to their original position. When they do, they attack the next wave. Rinse, repeat. the goal is to kill 30 orcs before 12 elves die. Although there are only 3, they seem to repop instantly if they "die." Only 3 are present at once.

Bestowal dialogue 'You have come none too soon, <name>. The Orcs have been launching small assaults against us of late, and our scouts have seen another raiding party heading this way. 'I need you at the base of these telain to help our soldiers on the ground drive off the Orcs with minimal casualties. We cannot afford to lose any more of our people, or we will be left shorthanded when their true assaults begin.' Background The Orcs in Fanuidhol have been launching frequent small-scale attacks against the borders of Lórien to test and weaken the resolve of the defenders before they launch a major assault. Objective 1 Talk to Raingon at Talan Gwilith [FAIL IF] Elvish Soldiers defeated (0/12) Raingon is at Talan Fanuidhol. You should speak with Raingon to prepare the defences for battle. Raingon: 'The Orcs come even now! Prepare our defences and reinforce our guards where you may! The Orcs will attack both here and at Talan Fanuidhol!' Raingon says, "The orcs are coming to test us once again! Prepare for battle!" Objective 2 Fanuidhol attackers defeated (0/30) [FAIL IF] Elvish Soldiers defeated (0/12) Raingon has asked you to defeat the attackers out of Fanuidhol while protecting the Elven soldiers. Objective 3 Talk to Raingon at Talan Gwilith [FAIL IF] Elvish Soldiers defeated (0/12) Raingon is at Talan Fanuidhol. With the assault turned aside, you should speak with Raingon. Raingon: 'The marchwardens tell me that you have acquitted yourself well during the recent skirmish. Allow me to offer you a token of our appreciation.'
