Bestowal dialogue

If you wish to win the favour of Yrjänä, you should speak with Jalmari at Sûri-kylä near to the steam-lodge. He will guide you upon your path.

Background

In order to gain the favour of Yrjänä, you need to complete three tasks for the Lossoth people.

Objective 1

Jalmari is at Sûri-kylä near to the steam-lodge.

Lassi has instructed you to speak with Jalmari and receive from him guidance to help earn the favour of Yrjänä.

Jalmari: 'In wisdom have you been sent to me, and only with wisdom will you earn the favour of the Lumi-Váki. Yrjänä will not speak to you until you have earned the Favour of Wisdom, which I will confer upon you after you have completed the task.
'Look next to me. There will you find things of importance to the Lumi-Väki, things that help us to survive in these cold lands. Put these things in their proper order, then return to me. How will you know what the proper order is? Through wisdom of course.
'Warmth is of great importance in these frozen lands, so fire is a boon companion. Even more important is water, for without water there is no life.
'Once you have fire and water at your disposal, you have done much, but do not rest yet! You must then have stout weapons to protect yourself, but first obtain food enough to lend yourself the strength to wield them.
'But before you obtain any of these necessaries, a wanderer in these lands must have clothing warm enough to protect him against the cold when fire cannot be made and water cannot be found.'

Objective 2

  • Choose the first item

The items can be found next to Jalmari.

Jalmari has instructed you to use wisdom in ordering certain items of import to the Lossoth. He told you the following in regard to the items:

'Warmth is of great importance in these frozen lands, so fire is a boon companion. Even more important is water, for without water there is no life.

'Even with fire and water at your disposal, these lands are not safe. A wise person will take with him stout weapons to protect himself, though he must first have food enough to lend himself the strength to wield such weapons.

'Above all, a wanderer in these lands must have clothing warm enough to protect him against the cold when fire cannot be made.'

  • Choose the second item

The items can be found next to Jalmari.

Objective 7

  • Talk to Jalmari

Jalmari is at Sûri-kylä near to the steam-lodge.

You should return to Jalmari with the solution to his puzzle.

Jalmari: 'You have finished! And what have you learned?
'Indeed, that is the correct order. You listened with wisdom, so I will confer the Favour of Wisdom upon you. This alone will not gain you the full favour of Yrjänä, but it is a strong beginning.'
