Bestowal Dialogue

'We need to scout the approach to Emax Dûl and learn if there is a way past the sentries. Perhaps there is an unguarded location to the left or right of the main entrance that will allow you to scale one of the walls?'

Background

With regret, Ulishár has bid farewell to Têrkar's Travellers so you can continue your urgent errand: scouting the approaches to the Ordâkhai-held Emax Dûl.

Objective 1

  • Study the defences of Emax Dûl from the low wall by the cliffside
  • Scout the approach to Emax Dûl above the cliffside

The approach to Emax Dûl must be scouted for some weakness in the defences.

Ulishár: 'We need to scout the approach to Emax Dûl and learn if there is a way past the sentries. Perhaps there is an unguarded location to the left or right of the main entrance that will allow you to scale one of the walls?'
Emax Dûl looms high above the cliffside
It will be difficult, if not impossible, to enter Emax Dûl from this side

Objective 2

The approach to the main entrance of Emax Dûl must be scouted for some weakness in the defences.

Ulishár: 'We need to scout the approach to Emax Dûl and learn if there is a way past the sentries. Perhaps there is an unguarded location to the left or right of the main entrance that will allow you to scale one of the walls?'
The main entrance to Emax Dûl appears heavily-guarded
Glorfindel quietly arrives as you survey the approach to Emax Dûl

Objective 3

Glorfindel has also come to scout the defences of Emax Dûl.

Glorfindel: 'The city is guarded, and I see little chance of sneaking in past the sentries.
'We may need to fight our way inside. Let us return to Inkanûsh and tell him what we have learned.'

Objective 4

Glorfindel fears that fighting your way in to Emax Dûl may be the only option available to you, but Inkanûsh in north-east Ahâba will not like that answer.

Glorfindel: 'We may need to fight our way inside. Let us return to Inkanûsh and tell him what we have learned.'
Inkanûsh: 'Glorfindel suggests that you fight your way in to Emax Dûl? Has he taken leave of his senses? Such an attack will raise the alarm through the entire city, and we will learn the plans of neither Thardúth nor Ordâkhai!
'Always an Elf-lord suggests the direct approach. It will not serve us here!'
Mashkânu clears his throat, drawing your attention

Objective 5

Mashkânu in north-east Ahâba has an idea.

Inkanûsh: 'The direct approach will not serve us here!'
Mashkânu: Mashkânu looks around at his companions before meeting the eyes of the Wizard that once frightened him so.
'I have had an idea, Inkanûsh.
'What if we sneak <name> into the city the same way we snuck out Ulishár? When we go to perform Satagêra's new play, <name> could be hidden among the costumes, beneath a hooded cloak.'

Objective 6

Zimêlkha is in north-east Ahâba.

Mashkânu: 'We were able to sneak Ulishár out of the city... why not do the same, but in the other direction?'
Zimêlkha: 'That will not work this time, Mashkânu. The guards of the city seem much more vigilant now than before. They will search our things, and if <name> is hidden among them, our secret passenger will be discovered.'
Jêsamin claps her hands together

Objective 7

Jêsamin in north-east Ahâba knows what needs to be done.

Zimêlkha: 'The guards of the city seem much more vigilant now than before.'
Jêsamin: 'I have it!'
Jêsamin quivers with excitement.
'If our friend has a part to play in the performance, the guards will have to let <name> in!'
Jêsamin beams at you excitedly.
'After you have played your part, you can then sneak away to search the keep. Once you find whatever it is Inkanûsh seeks within those walls, you can return to us and we will all leave together!'

Objective 8

Ulishár is in north-east Ahâba.

Jêsamin: 'After you have played your part, you can then sneak away to search the keep. Once you find whatever it is Inkanûsh seeks within those walls, you can return to us and we will all leave together!'
Ulishár: 'It is not enough. <name> does not know the interior of the keep.'
Ulishár takes a deep breath before he continues, and when he speaks his voice is low and quiet.
'Someone must accompany you who knows the layout of the keep, someone who has been there before. I need to go with you. Otherwise you will not be able to search the keep before the performance ends.'
