Bestowal Dialogue

'I would like to introduce you to Châmelek Gêta. She can be a stubborn old mule, though. I can say this only because she is my grandmother!'

He gives you a hearty laugh from his belly, and you get the sense that, despite his words, he loves the "stubborn old mule."

'She is not fond of us being on the surface at all, so I expect her to be disagreeable about having visitors. I suggest that by bringing her a gift worthy of a Gêta, she would look upon you with a more open mind.

'The Ordâkhai outpost of Onabóha is comically close to Jiret-menêsh, considering the men there have yet to notice us! It would be more humorous if they didn't pose a deadly threat to us. Should Kôth Rau send them troops to support an attack on us, we would stand very little chance of survival.

'Regardless, if you went to Onabóha and stole a treasure from the Ordâkhai, it would be doubly impressive! Not only would you give her a treasure, but one from her feared enemy! Not being able to pay their soldiers would also make things difficult for them. It would also show the Gêta that they are not as invulnerable as she seems to believe.'

Background

Mêshaget would like to present you to Châmelek Gêta, his grandmother and the leader of Jiret-menêsh.

Objective 1

To make her more amenable to your presence, he suggests you bring her a gift, a treasure stolen from the Ordâkhai at Onabóha, their camp to the south of Jiret-menêsh. You should travel to Onabóha.

You have found Onabóha

Objective 2

  • Search for a worthy gift

You have found Onabóha, the Ordâkhai camp near Jiret-menêsh. You should search the camp for treasure.

You spot a chest loaded with treasure

Objective 3

You have spotted a chest filled with treasure inside a tent at Onabóha. You should take the treasure as a gift for Châmelek Gêta.

Time to go!

Objective 4

 Ordâkhai Treasure

You have taken a chest fat with treasure from the Ordâkhai at Onabóha. You should return to Jiret-menêsh and show it to Mêshaget.

Mêshaget: 'Oh, that is a handsome treasure indeed! Yes, she would find that agreeable. I already sent a messenger inside to request an audience. They should be back at any moment.'

Objective 5

 Ordâkhai Treasure

You have shown Mêshaget the treasure taken from the Ordâkhai at Onabóha. You should wait to be invited into Châmelek Gêta's halls to meet with her.

Objective 6

 Ordâkhai Treasure

Mêshaget wants to introduce you to Châmelek Gêta, the leader of Jiret-menêsh. You should talk to Châmelek Gêta and present her with the gift you brought.

Mêshaget: 'Ah, we have our invite. Come, let us not waste any time.'
Châmelek Gêta: 'My grandson speaks very highly of you. I wonder if you are truly worthy of his praise.'
You bow and hand her the box of treasure. She opens it and briefly appraises the gold and gems within.
'You have done well. I am told this was taken from the Ordâkhai of Shêru. A difficult deed as well as a noble gesture, though I am sure you received counselling from one who knows me well.'
She hands the box off to her steward as Mêshaget's cheeks grow flush with embarrassment.
'It is of no matter. Thank you for the fine gift. For the sake of all, I hope you did not lead our enemy to our front door. I know not if you are aware of the danger Mêshaget has put himself and some of our kin in. My grandson fought hard to have the doors of Jiret-menêsh reopened. It is an understandable desire for those of less than one-hundred years, but it is foolhardy nonetheless.
'Though Barkhûsh is no more, evil has not died with him. Evil lives ever on in the hearts of Men, and has broken the land beyond repair. Even the Avabár-kinta have not the power to heal this land. But still, the mountain provides all that we need. We do not need to involve ourselves with anything outside of our Halls, and to do so is to invite disaster.
'Mêshaget is naive and does not know what the real world is like. He and others of his generation have been sheltered their whole lives. I understand the yearning for more, but the world that they yearn for does not exist. I must allow them to make their own mistakes, and only hope that the lesson does not cost them their lives.
'After much debate, I relented and allowed those who wished to surface to do so, with some terms. My first priority is to protect these halls and the dwarves within. Therefore, should we be subject to attack, the doors will close immediately. We will not hold them open for anyone, including my grandson. We will send no help, and they will be left to whatever fate befalls them.
'Honestly, I regret my decision to allow this. I see no good that can come of it. But a promise from a Gêta will not be broken.'
She leans back in her throne.
'You may come and go as you will, <name>, but know this: should you lead the Ordâkhai to Jiret-menêsh, you would be responsible for the deaths of many innocent dwarves.'

Objective 7

You have met Châmelek Gêta, Lord of Jiret-menêsh and Mêshaget's grandmother. You should exit the Gêta's hall.

Objective 8

You have met Châmelek Gêta, Lord of Jiret-menêsh and Mêshaget's grandmother. You should talk to Mêshaget about the encounter.

Mêshaget: 'That went well! She was in a good mood today!'
Mêshaget laughs at your skepticism.
'Truly, if she did not like you, she would have said very little and would have told you to finish your business here and be on your way.'
