Mîm was the chief of the Petty-dwarves during the First Age and the primary inhabitant of Amon Rûdh. He and his sons carved hidden halls and chambers within the hill, living in secrecy after the exile of their people from other Dwarven domains.

Mîm was known for his cunning and skill in stonework, as well as his stubborn and secretive nature. He maintained strict control over Amon Rûdh, guarding it carefully against outsiders. Though not inherently hostile, he was wary of Elves and Men and acted primarily in the interest of his family and kin.

He had at least two sons, Khîm and Ibûn, who shared in the stewardship of Amon Rûdh. Mîm’s later years were marked by grief at the loss of his sons, which contributed to the eventual downfall and abandonment of his stronghold.

With the extinction of the Petty-dwarves, Mîm’s lineage and the halls of Amon Rûdh passed into history, leaving only the bare stone hill as a reminder of their existence.
