Item Talk:Leather Leggings (Item Level 13)
While updating Gilly Bracegirdle who sells this item I found that using {{Reward|Leather Leggings}} will cause this:
which is not the expected outcome. Furthermore, many many vendors sell items under same name, usually they differ in minimum level and then of course in power of abilities. They are indeed under the same name.
Suggestion and questions: If possible, but this is founded on ignorance, use a level=value in the template and if it is set uses the one of the two that is correct. This is of course the technically harder nut to crack I guess. And then, should we use same page and selective transclusion? Or should we use one page per item named such as "Item:Leather Leggings (Level 99)"? And then also have an item-page for the plain name which yields a result that makes the editor understand s/he must find which level/page to use.
The important part is probably that an editor does not always know that several same-name items exist for a certain piece. And when the template really provides a seemingly okay result, who bothers reading the fine print to discover that it is slightly off, up or down? Some do, but... . I will copy this up to the Category:Items talk page as I believe that is a better place, but this was the starting point.

- Each of these items should be on a separate page, disambiguated - as you suggested - by level and maybe (Quest). Pretty much all vendor and world drop equipment have lots of levels; compiling and sorting them would be a massive project, heh. Starbursty has at times created standalone disambiguation pages for higher level armour sets (see Armour of the Aurochs) to point to the different available items, but I'm not sold on that yet.
Another option might be to just list all the levels available on the item's page, but that might be difficult/troublesome to maintain. Sethladan 12:24, 12 November 2011 (EST)- Addendum: In this particular page, we can probably just delete the first item because it's a reward from an obsolete quest. I don't think anyone will cry too much over the loss of a little level 1 common pair of pants that gives 8 armour. :-P Sethladan 12:26, 12 November 2011 (EST)
- Yeah, I believe THAT is an issue as well, obsolete quests actually makes the rewards obsolete as well and we should use the broom on them (I am guilty as charged). And the other way around, when the developers find it fun to play with us and update all stats by 15/16 inch. All over the place :P
- Good, I first noticed this issue when working on Frerin's Court as a new Dwarf and Elf (still not done there) and I noticed the vendors there sold many many same-name items and only level differed ==> stats and price as well. I wonder wonder who? .. ahem .. how many of this kind of name clashes there actually are :-?
- Either way, such a disambiguation page should have an item-template which YELLS something that alerts the editor to look into it, so that {{Reward}} produces some big red "ALERT" sign. Thanks for the support, if I ever get that far ... eeh ... if nobody beats my putrid-sludge inner me to it I might have a look at it some day. Probably when I update what the newbie vendor sells ;)
