Ingwë

Ingwë is one of the eldest Elves, born on the shores of Cuiviénen before the Elves were discovered by Oromë. Ingwë, with Finwë and Elwë, was invited to Valinor by Oromë as ambassadors, and on their return to the lake they took their people west to dwell with the Valar. Though not every Elf at Cuiviénen made the Great Journey, all of Ingwë's people, the Vanyar, did. As king of the Vanyar, mightiest of the clans to follow Oromë, Ingwë was considered High King of the Elves. Ingwë never returned to Middle-earth after making the journey to Aman, remaining there in service to the Valar in the Undying Lands.
