Eönwë is a Maia and the herald and chief marshal of the Valar. He is renowned as the commander of the Host of Valinor, the mighty army that overthrew Morgoth and his legions at the end of the First Age.

Eönwë is described as a figure of great stature, strength, and martial skill. He bears a mighty trumpet, used to rally troops and inspire courage, and carries a spear of power. His presence alone on the battlefield is said to strike fear into the hearts of Morgoth’s forces.

As commander of the Host, Eönwë led Vanyar Elves, Noldor Elves of Valinor, other Maiar, and some Valar across the seas to Middle-earth. Upon landing, the Host drove away the Orcs from the shores of Belegaer and then advanced inland to initiate the War of Wrath. Eönwë coordinated the army with precision, overseeing battles in which the Great Eagles and Eärendil the Mariner also participated.

Through his leadership, the Host achieved complete victory, culminating in the capture of Morgoth and his expulsion from Arda for all time. Eönwë’s role as commander and herald of the Valar marks him as one of the greatest martial figures in the history of Arda.
