The Doorwards of Zajâna is the current ruling council of the City of Scholars, established in the wake of the Blue Mutiny to govern the liberated districts of the city. They stand as the principal authority in opposition to the Ordâkhai and the remnants of the Jewelled Council, who retain control of the imperial palace at the Hall of Lajór and its surrounding quarters.

The council is composed of five Masters, each responsible for a distinct aspect of civic life and governance. The Master of Scales, Azagâya, oversees commerce, taxation, and arbitration of disputes, ensuring that trade and justice maintain the city's stability. The Master of Scrolls, Rokhâran, preserves the city’s libraries and archives, manages educational institutions, and directs scholarly research, maintaining Zajâna's reputation as a center of learning. The Master of Secrets, Jârano, coordinates intelligence, diplomacy, and counter-espionage against Ordâkhai loyalists, ensuring the security of the council and the populace. The Master of Spears, Sarâgh, commands the city militia, organizes defenses, and maintains order in the streets, balancing vigilance with civil oversight. Finally, the Master of Spirits, Mashôr, administers religious affairs, healing, and public rites, mediating between Zajâni traditions and the lingering influence of foreign cults imposed under Ordâkh rule.

Each Master rules from a seat in the Shorakhúna, a series of interconnected halls adorned with symbols of their offices: scales for Azagâya, a scroll for Rokhâran, a cloak for Jârano, crossed spears on a shield for Sarâgh, and a glowing potion for Mashôr. Together, the Doorwards act in concert to preserve the autonomy of Zajâna, rebuild its institutions, and resist any attempts by the Jewelled Council or the Empire of Ordâkh to reclaim the city.
