Aravorn was the ninth Chieftain of the Dúnedain, succeeding his father Aragost in T.A. 2588. Like all the Chieftains of his line, he was descended from both Isildur and Anárion, and was among the forefathers of Aragorn II.
Life and Chieftainship
Aravorn's rule took place during a period when the chief strength of the Enemy was turned away from the North. Much of its attention was focused upon the newly founded realm of Rohan, easing pressure upon Eriador and allowing the Rangers of the North to maintain their watch with comparatively little open conflict.
As a result, Aravorn's time as Chieftain appears to have been largely uneventful in the records that survive. Nevertheless, the Rangers continued their quiet vigilance, guarding the lands of the former Kingdom of Arnor against lingering threats and preserving what peace they could.
Death and Succession
Aravorn died in T.A. 2654, after ruling as Chieftain for sixty-six years.
