|Walkthrough & Notes|
Troves and Trickery is a quest given in all four main race cities. This quest is repeatable every 12 hours per city. Quest starter for the Hobbiton area is Egbert Took at a tent near The Party Tree. The basic task is for you to find four NPCs within the area that have a blue quest-ring icon over their heads. Talking to them will give you a message with a hint to the emote they want you to perform. See detailed walkthrough below.
Note: These NPCs do not need to be visited in any specific order.
You have 20 minutes to complete this quest by performing emotes for all four NPCs. You do not have to turn the quest in within the time limit.
"If you don't mind me saying, this is embarassing. Well, your clothes, around the back...backside, they're not quite fitting right."
Farmer (inside a stable, east of the bridge this side of the river, Hobbiton)
"Don't you just hate when you see a creeping, crawling thing, and then suddenly your skin crawls for the next hour? Why, just that very thing happened to me! I saw a spider, and now I am shuddering all over!"
Fisherman (On a dock, east of the bridge on the other side of the river, Hobbiton)
"I'd better catch a fish soon. I've been here all day, and I haven't seen so much as a fin! I would give anything to see a fish right now -- any fish at all. I'm about to lose my temper!"
Townperson (southwest of the inn, up the hill, sitting inside a gazebo, Hobbiton)
"I'm so stuffed, I don't know what to do! I've had five meals in a row, and a fair amount to drink as well. I'd love to eat more, but I'm not sure there's room. What should I do?"
In prior editions of the Harvestmath, the targets of this quest were different:
Ted Sandyman (At the Bywater Bridge, Hobbiton) Working the fields all day makes your muscles stiff. You need to make sure you take a moment to relax, rest, and ensure everything is good and in working order.
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins (Outside of Bag End, Hobbiton) Are you warm? I'm suddenly feeling very hot and flustered. Oh my, now I'm dizzy.' Note: You must have completed her previous quest in order to see a blue icon.
'The Fall Festival is my favourite time of year, <name>. One of our fondest traditions is the game of Troves and Trickery.
'If you wish to play, wander amongst the hobbits. Some will give you some clues as to the tricks they would like to see, then you perform them. If you succeed in pleasing them all, return here, and I will reward you.
'What say you to that?'
Troves and Trickery is a festival tradition among many cultures, where participants try to please a number of celebrants with their tricks in order to receive a prize.
NOTE: This quest will be removed from your quest log when the event it is associated with ends.
There are many hobbits throughout the Shire who enjoy the challenge of Troves and Trickery.
Egbert Took has challenged you to a game of troves and trickery. You should speak to several hobbits and perform tricks for their amusement.
Egbert Took is at the Party Tree.
You should return to Egbert Took with word of your successes at Troves and Trickery.
Egbert Took: 'This is splendid, terrific, wonderful! You have done such a good job. Maybe too good of a job...I don't know how my tricks will ever top yours!'
