Pendulf

Pendulf was the son of Thane Pendrad and Mildrith. His father was killed by an unexpected band of Orc raiders. Meanwhile, Reeve Athelward ordered his troops to defend Cliving instead of aiding Elthengels. Not only did this cause Pendrad's death, it caused Pendulf to challenge the Reeve in a sword duel that he lost. The duel was not to the death, but Pendulf's wound became infected and he died shortly afterward. This left Mildrith alone with her only daughter, Siflád. Athelward did not see why her daughter should remain in Elthengels, and bid her come to the safety of Cliving with him, where he would keep an eye on her.
