Accessing all 8 Doormats

Since the treat doormat acquired from the box is (presumably) random, with (presumably) equal probabilities for each type of treat doormat, the number of boxes required to acquire all 8 types of treat doormat devolves into the so-called "coupon collector's problem" within Probability Theory (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupon_collector%27s_problem). Applying known solutions to the problem, it would take approximately 22 boxes, on average, to collect all 8 doormats.

As a practical matter, it would be preferable to work towards this goal as a co-operative, or check the LOTRO forums (https://forums.lotro.com) for the locations of houses or neighborhoods on your server, which already have all 8 doormats, set to be usable by the public in Housing Permissions. Note that as of Update 37, doormats can be used on furniture hooks, thus making it possible to provide multiple treat doormats -- or even all treat doormats -- in a single house. Allowing the public to enter a house does, however, require setting the Visit permisssion, in addition to the Use Decoration permission necessary for interaction with the doormats.
