Background

Fastitocalon is probably based on a poem of the same name written by Tolkien as part of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and Other Verses from the Red Book. The poem is about a giant turtle, so big that it resembled an island where sailors would sail to and find shelter. They drowned when Fastitocalon submerged. Fastitocalon is in turn probably based on the fabled sea monster aspidochelone, which appeared in several middle age bestiaries.

Fastitocalon in the game is located near the Anduin River.
