Let me be the first to give you a warm welcome to the wiki :)

There is indeed lots and lots of work to be done, and that's how I got started here. I work mainly on the instance articles, and if you say you have experience there then help is definitely appreciated. By the time you get to a high enough level for CD/Uru/BG, they will likely still need a little touching up. Of course, don't rush your leveling, the experience getting to 50 is half the fun! :) --Fedaykin 21:15, 8 August 2007 (PDT)

Experience? I could hardly call my work at GW Wiki experience, I just know my basic way around a wiki. But thanks. :) Zyxomma100 06:51, 9 August 2007 (PDT)

Hiya, it's wonderful to see someone else filling in the quests (I do batches of them, but I get bored quickly :p ). Are you filling them in before or after completion? I'm just asking because the "Objectives" section seems rather shorter than I'm used to seeing. DancesInTrees 11:12, 11 August 2007 (PDT)

Um... I'm filling them in... before... and after... Actually, in most cases, I'm just putting up the first objective, because I forget to take screenies as I go along. My bad. *frown* I just looked at some of your posted quests and see how you're doing them. To be entirely honest, I don't like the system (each objective gets its own heading), but I guess from now on I can go that way. I still have screenies from a bunch of Evendim quests that I didn't put up because I didn't have time... I'm also now trying to put up the quest reward items as I go along, because I think it would be nice to have them. I'm finding the whole item template a bit cumbersome and not perfectly accurate to the game's listing, too, but I guess that can be worked out in the future, too. Not to put anyone or anything down... I don't have the right to do so because I don't have the slightest clue how those templates work; I just use them. :p
Anyway, not sure how much work I can get done; I just arrived at college today (actually, a few hours ago... connecting my comp to the network was harder than I thought), and so my amount of free time will plummet after tomorrow. Still, I'd like to see this wiki much more fleshed out; you guys have done a great job so far. Zyxomma100 12:29, 11 August 2007 (PDT)
This should probably be taken to the appropriate talk pages, but I have to say a few things.
First off, I full agree with Zyxomma on the topic of headlines. There's not really any need to have a new headline for each objective, since the objectives themselves are usually not longer than a line. I also think that a Walkthrough for each quest is pretty much essential, and should be at the bottom so those who don't want a "spoiler" of sorts can avoid it easily. When designing these quest pages, and that also goes for just about any page, it's definitely most important to ask: "What would a player be looking for if he came all the way to LOTRO-Wiki and then to this page?"
The first thing that pops to mind is "how to do the quest". Quest information and objectives are obviously important, but that's the stuff that any player can log into the game to view, assuming he's not looking for a follow-up. This leads me to the second reason someone would view the quest: "what're the next quests in the series, I want to see the rewards to know if it's worth completing". I've seen how you do it, Dances, and I quite like it. Seeing the next quests in the series shouldn't be more than a click away :)
Concerning the item template, I think that it is indeed a little "cumbersome", and doesn't fully reflect in-game items. An update would be nice there. Until then at least I think posting the items as they appear in-game from cut-outs of screenshots works for instance content. --Fedaykin 14:59, 11 August 2007 (PDT)
Hmm, 1)The template: isn't mine ;) although I have tweaked it a little. I've just used what someone else set up.
2) It's a lot faster to run the game windowed & copy & paste the text from the quests than to type it all in.
3) Walkthroughs - 9/10ths of the quest don't need a walkthrough (although a loc doesn't harm) as all the information is there in the quest text.
4) "What would a player be looking for if he came all the way to LOTRO-Wiki and then to this page?" I wasn't expecting what we have set up here; I was expecting something like eq2i does eg this (although part of the reason for not capturing quest text there is because there's no way to view it afterwards) (incidentally *sob* they've fallen to wikia). Having said that see 3).
I've no objection to a changed template, but for any major tweaks we do have a lot of quests to change, even if it's a small proportion of the total.
ps sorry to take over your talk page this way! wasn't intentional DancesInTrees 05:46, 12 August 2007 (PDT)
No worries. Still though, I've moved many of the important points over to Help_talk:Quests, as I think the discussion would be most appropriate there. Zyxomma100 12:09, 12 August 2007 (PDT)
