Hi folks, I've played since Beta, but somewhat new to wiki editing. Figured I'd give back a little, since I have been a lotro-wiki user for years. Still wrapping my head around the structure, so any tips welcome.

Personal Project List

Geography Clean-up

I've always been an amateur cartographile (I started collecting maps when I was 5). Part of my professional background is data architecture, so metadata (eg. Categorization) is extraordinarily important to me and I cringe whenever the proper metadata is not present. So my self imposed project is to complete/fix anything under the "Geography" category.

Todos:

  • Fix any obvious holes/incomplete categorization on pages
  • Make sure all Map pages are properly categorized
  • Rationalize Camp/Outpost/Village/Town/City/Settlement with better definitions to make it easier to classify

Awesome Things

One of the aspects that I love about this game (and I know others do too) is the way it brings Tolkien's Middle Earth alive - those moments of "Ooooh this is what I imagined it might be like, but even better". I'd like to start a category containing 'omg that's cool' things about LOTRO, specifically relating to the lore. Preliminary Ideas:

  • Awesome LOTRO Things <--- top category (needs a better name)
* Incredible views <--- subcategory
* Not-to-miss Interactions
* Quests you never knew about
===== Incredible Views =====

Contains pages of galleries of pics, and instructions on how to get to those places (map refs, and how to get there if you're lower level than the area) Examples: Rainbow in The Shire, Rivendell from the entrance path (I swear I stared at this for half an hour), Falls of Rauros, The Argonath, Edoras and the Golden Hall, Minas Tirith

===== Not-to-miss Interactions =====

These are situations where my heart stopped because... OMG IT'S GANDALF (that's why to this day, after playing since beta, I will still play a toon from level one through the epic quests) List of quests / locations where something important to the lore happens (examples: meeting Strider for the first time, Rivendell guest house, sundering of the fellowship instances)

===== Quests you never knew about =====

The 'little' quests / quest chains that add so much to the lore, even if it's not quite canon. Examples: The Stoors in Dunland, that one could completely miss; The Adventures of Floid and Dewit; Chicken Play, Bingo Boffin; others.

Show me where I can find...?

Much like the 'how do I grind TP' question, I often come to the wiki to find out how I can most efficiently use my gold/landscape currency for advancement of my toons. Which barterers for what currency are available for LI titles? Which barterers for what currency are available for Anfalas Scrolls of Empowerment? etc. There are gaps in our information, and I intend to fill them.
