Description

Physical Description:

Ariiell is tall, as are all of the elven race. She also has the grey eyes of her race, although hers are slightly unusual in that they have a hint of sky-blue in them. Her hair also is unusual, in that it is not as dark as is usual for one of her race, suggesting that far back in her ancestory, one of the golden house of Finarfin might be found.

Personality Description:

Ariiell is strong-willed and stiff-necked. She especially appears so to those who are higher in rank and wiser than herself. However, she rarely shows fear, even against the most dreaded foe, thus making her a valuable assest in the war against Sauron. Knowing full well how eager Ariiell is to prove her independence and how reluctant she is to accept help, some of her peers and superiors are often suprised to find how gentle she is with those who are weaker than her. She often shows unneccesary degrees of mercy to the pitiful.

Bio

Ariiell's mother, Callamoe, and father, Golwenner dwelt for many men's lives in the Elven refuge of Edhellond. Her father's parents were refugees from Beleriand. They, and other refugees, had fled the ruin of that land and had arrived at the site of Edhellond in three small ships. Her mother's folk were Nandorin elves who had long wandered in the lands east of the Misty Mountains. Eventually, seeking the sea, they settled in Edhellond - for a time.

Ariiell inherited her love of lost lore from her father, who in turn inherited his love of lore and history from his father. For the father of Ariiell's father had Noldorian blood running through his viens, and the Noldor loved the ancient lore. Ariiell also inherited her strong will (which some might call stubborness), her pride and her disdain of Durin's folk from her Sindarin father.

From her mother, of the Nandor, Ariiell inherited her love of beasts and birds. When she was a child she would try to befriend every creature she laid eyes on. Sometimes, this tendancy resulted in mishaps. She inherited little else of her mother's character, other than a tendancy to show mercy to the weak and pitiful, for her mother passed over the seas soon after Ariiell's birth, following many of her folk who had already departed. She was weary of Middle Earth and feared the shadow which had settled on the wood of the north.

And so, Ariell was raised by her father, Golwenner, as Edhellond dwindled and fell into gradual ruin. Finally, Golwenner decided to depart from Edhellond with Ariiell. They wandered west and north for a few years and finally settled west of Eriador in the Grey Havens. This was the land of his kin, and for a time he was content. He taught Ariiell what he knew of the Lore and readied her for the coming days. For he warned her that they would be dark and that many things that were good would be lost before the shadow of the age would pass.

But when his daughter was full grown in knowledge, his heart began to long for Callamoe, the gentle one. And so he sailed into the West and passed from Middle Earth and was lost to Ariiell Numensul for a time.

For Ariiell stayed, knowing that it was her destiny to remain until the shadow passed, or consumed all of Middle Earth. For when she was born, an elf who was said to have the gift of foresight spoke over her these words:

"And thus the Sun-elf came, and thus the West-wind blew and thus the shadow scattered and then - she passed."

In grief she left the Havens and became a wanderer, fighting many foes in her journeys. For now the shadow was dark indeed.
