Description

Physical Description: Fredeghar Wayfarer is a small but crafty Hobbit with brown hair and piercing blue eyes. His Fallohide ancestry gives him a fair skin tone. He can usually be found wearing his official Dúnadan hunter's cloak and his legendary Elvish bow, Ranagil.

Personality Description: Fredeghar has an insatiable wanderlust and desire for adventure, due to his impetuous Fallohide blood and his apprenticeship with a Ranger of the North. As such, he is considered a bit of an oddball by other Hobbits. Despite this, he is a noble, good-hearted person who desires to help others. He has great reverence for the Dúnedain and their storied history, and has fought long and hard to be accepted as an honorary Ranger.

Bio

Fredeghar Wayfarer is a Fallohide Hobbit of the Shire. He is the son of pipe-weed farmer Wilcomb Hornblower and his wife Ivy Boffin-Hornblower and is the brother of Tigerlily Hornblower. Born in the town of Waymeet, where the various roads through the Shire connect, Fredeghar met many travelers from distant lands and became enamored of the outside world. He chose his surname of Wayfarer during his own travels, to assume a new identity and avoid bringing shame to his relatives as one unnaturally prone to adventures.

Fredeghar once served as esquire to Giladan, a Ranger of the Dúnedain charged with defending the borders of the Shire. The young Hobbit accompanied Giladan on his patrols of the bounds and the surrounding lands, learning the skills and crafts of the Rangers. His world was shattered, however, when Giladan was slain by Stone-trolls during a journey towards Rivendell. After his mentor's tragic death, Fredeghar began wandering Middle-earth helping those in need and carrying on Giladan's work.

His deeds have earned him honorary membership among several clans of the Dúnedain, including the Grey Company (whose uniform he wears proudly), the Rangers of Ithilien, and the Wardens of Annúminas (defenders of the ancient capital of Arnor). He is also a member of the adventurer clan, the Foolhardy Ringleaders. A seasoned explorer, Fredeghar has traveled to almost all the lands of Eriador and Rhovanion, as well as Gondor, Mordor, and parts of Haradwaith.

Fredeghar is interested in history, myth, and zoology and is fascinated by the many creatures of Middle-earth. When not adventuring, he devotes his time to writing a book about the creatures, beasts, and monsters he has encountered in his travels. He often shares his findings with fellow adventurers [i.e. frequently contributes to the LOTRO Wiki creature pages].
