Bio
My name is Aerandil. I am from Doriath, in East Beleriand of the lands to the north. When the Siege of Angband ended with great destruction, elves were driven from Doriath and took refuge on the Balar. After many years in Balar, I was given the honour of joining a small fellowship led by Inesior that was sent from Balar, with blessings from Gil-galad, to travel across the Ered Luin to find better lands for our people in Eriador. In all, our fellowship numbered three and twenty.
The road was hard, and we had not been long over the Ered Luin when we were ambushed by a company of orcs. All in my fellowship were slain save myself and two others. One of these who was captured was Inesior, our leader. The other was Duhatinl, a hunter like myself. Why we were not slain with the others I do not know, but we were bound and led for many days through lands that were strange to me.
One night, a great and terrible storm arose from the west and while the orcs were trying to find cover from the storm, my brave leader, Inesior, managed to break free from his binds. He unbound my hands and ordered me to hide in the woods while he cut the ropes from Duhatinl. I had reached safety when I heard a commotion amongst the orcs, and I turned to see both Inesior and Duhatinl be slain. Had I the bravery then to fight the orcs, I would have done so. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that moment and wished I had avenged the deaths of my friends. Instead, I turned back into the woods and ran as fast as my legs would carry me until I could run no more.
Spring passed, and summer, and for many years beyond I wandered in the woods as if I were an outlaw, but no wrong had I done. In those years, I stayed seldom in the same place more than one night, but I moved whither ever I could for fear of the orcs that were still chasing me, if only in my mind's eye. I became skilled with a bow, for that is how one eats when he is alone in the woods. I was forgotten to the world, although I had not forgotten it.
There came a time when I became increasingly restless, and the fear of the orcs was passed over me. It was in these times, that I took up and traveled east. Over the Emyn Uial, in search of glad tidings or in the very least, companionship. I traveled carefully, and used what I had learned from hunting in the woods to pass undetected across the lands until I came upon the great city of Annúminas. There I lived in peace until, at the end of the second age, a great battle was fought against the forces of Sauron. In this battle, I was chosen to be an archer in the company of Mallenhadh. I learned much from Mallenhadh in the days during the battle, and when all was over I returned to Imladris with Mallenhadh as his foster son. To this day, Mallenhadh continues to teach and live there to this day studying and honing my skills under Mallenhadh.
