Ukhrash

Ukhrâsh (singular: Ukhrash) (Black Speech and Orkish for Walk-skulls) are a breed of large, crab-like creatures that lurk deep beneath Mount Gundabad. Though technically crustaceans, Ukhrâsh are classified among the Spiders and Insects due to their closest known relations among the hostile creatures of Middle-earth. Their heavy carapaces, powerful pincers, and relentless persistence make them a constant danger in the flooded depths of the mountain.
In the long centuries following the abandonment of Mount Gundabad by the Dwarves, the deeps have become infested with many unnatural beasts. The Ukhrâsh were first encountered by the Gabil'akkâ during their attempts to reclaim their ancient Mountain-home, where the creatures quickly proved to be a stubborn and recurring nuisance. Despite their ferocity, a handful of daring adventurers have succeeded in taming individual Ukhrash, keeping them as unusual and intimidating pets.
Ukhrâsh are most commonly found in subterranean waters, including underground lakes such as the Gloomingtarn and smaller pools scattered throughout the Pit of Stonejaws. They are well adapted to darkness and confined spaces, striking swiftly at intruders who stray too close to their lairs.
Background
Ukhrâsh do not appear in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. They were created for The Lord of the Rings Online as part of the expanded ecosystem of Mount Gundabad.
