Talk:Frûz

The ads that spawn now heal him, quite conciderably actually. Having a tank and loremasters at the ads is very much required to stun/interrupt/tank them as soon as they drop down.

Keeping Fruz tanked in the opposite corner/side makes this battle possible. Allowing the ads to reach fruz makes it impossible.

I will update the strategy once we kill him :P (in there right now) --Anarchie 12:35, 16 November 2007 (PST)

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this. We went in there yesterday and just rolled him first shot, easy. Tanked him in the corner, then had everyone kill adds when they spawned.... no problem. The adds just died too fast to be anything that makes the fight hard. I should add, there was really no need to have people camp the stairs as long as everyone switches to adds when they're up, then goes back on Fruz. --Fedaykin 14:02, 16 November 2007 (PST)

new pic

I don't quite agree that the new pic is better than the last, other than the icon above the guardians head it shows the front of fruz plus the avr height compared to an elf.

imo a battle picture is worth 10 sneaky screenshots of a non triggered boss.

Its by purpose that pretty much all the pics i took of the bosses are in midfight (i take about 20 or 30 during a fight to find the best)

Good point. I agree that a good screenshot in battle that allows you to clearly see the boss and a size comparison is nice, (though a nice non-combat screenie is still better that one in combat with several people blocking a good view of the boss). I can see upon review that this is the case here, so I'll change it back to the old one. --Fedaykin 00:11, 23 November 2007 (PST)
Well, I would prefer having a picture with only Frûz himself on it... this way there would be no misunderstanding who really is Frûz on that picture... if you're writing an article on size comparison then the current picture is ok, but not for an article about NPC/Boss/Mob... just my Copper ... --Xander 00:26, 23 November 2007 (PST)
A ghastly ghoul, a 20 foot troll covered in armor or a tiny man. Im sorry but i simply can't see your point when it comes to being confused as to who is the mob. I can understand if its a a humanoid, but even then most of the time they are the center of the picture with anyone fighting them in the sides (or partly cut out).

A battle picture is 10x as exciting as a boring stationary from odd angles or from afar. --Anarchie 05:12, 23 November 2007 (PST)

Well as far as I know this here is supposed to be an encyclopedia not a battle-picture gallery, if an article is about a battle then by all means put a battle-picture in it! Open any encyclopedia, does the main picture of an article about a person or animal features this animal fighting someone? I don't think so, but you just might find an odd one... Look for example through Karazhan bosses on wowwiki - you'll see a lot of pictures taken at odd angles... thats how I know it's done on most game wikis...
I actually consider both pictures to be substandard and just wanted to object your statement that a battle picture is better... because imho it isn't... unless like I said it's an article about size-comparison, battle or tactic for that battle... --Xander 05:39, 23 November 2007 (PST)
It's suppose to be fun though right? If your goal with this site is to make a websters dictionary of lotro then this is clearly not what i thought and worked towards. In showing the boss's when they are engaged you show them how they naturally are seen in the game. discussing this is pointless. Admins should just make a descision. If you want dead, immobile "websters" pictures of the mobs then someone else will just have to do them from now on. It's really that simple :) --Anarchie 06:39, 23 November 2007 (PST)
Just a hint: I am one of the admins =P though in the last time I have had very little leisure time on my hands and when I did get a few free hours I prefered to spend them in game... today though I had a little bit more time - so I've updated Exploratory Angmar Deeds...
as for decision-making: the things are run (mostly) democratic here, so everyone has a say and if I find a better picture I will upload it and we might have some sort of a vote about the issue... I have nothings against battle-pictures per se, I love to make them too... but I think that the main picture in an article should be as static and as free of foreign objects/PC's/etc. as possible... just my Copper ...
Cheer up, mate, you're doing fine job here and I did not want to make you down or something ;) keep it up! --Xander 06:55, 23 November 2007 (PST)
It wasnt suppose to be a PMS post ;) sorry if you understoodit that way. If the main picture is from the front (or close to it) and is not taken from a ridiculous range (thus pixelated) then i have no problems putting it in instead (good luck though :P). Those are just really hard to get without having too many in the pic with the boss :D im surprised i managed to get the pic with just our tank tbh. Getting nice closeups is beginning to be a hobby for me. It is however a nice point you had with showing the various "stances" the creatures are in when they use the various special abilities. Not a bad idea. --Anarchie 08:18, 23 November 2007 (PST)
Well, the picture I upped of Fruz was with only him on there, but a view from the side while he was sitting down. Ideally it should have been a full frontal view, and although Anarchie's had a guard with an icon over his head in front of the troll, it was a good full view from the front. In this case, I believe that while his image is still not ideal, it is the better of the two.
If the way things are done on the main Wikipedia are any indicator though, I'd like to give this example. Notice how the main picture of the Elephant shows a full frontal view of the animal? There is no person standing beside it to give you an idea of how tall it is, and though it may seem obvious to us how tall an Elephant is, it could be argued that there are people who don't. So, were the guys at the Wiki wrong to use the image as the main one? I'd say the answer is no - the article is about the Elephant, not a size comparison of elephant-to-man. Now scroll down a little. Notice how they did put a size comparison, because it could still be useful? Granted, this is a raid boss in a game and not a real-life animal, but I think the same reasons that the picture with the Elephant from the front was chosen for that article is the same reason that the ideal picture for Fruz and any other raid boss would be a full frontal shot - to show the user how the boss the article is describing looks. If they want to know how big that boss is in comparison to a character and couldn't find it out by simply looking at the species for an idea, then a "size comparison" screenshot would definitely be useful.
That being said, I think that once we have an "ideal" screenshot, we can link to Anarchie's image as a thumbnail below, as "Fruz in battle" or something, which would add to the article because it would show that Fruz wields a pretty huge club and is larger than your usual Troll. --Fedaykin 18:16, 23 November 2007 (PST)
