Who Are They?

Introduction

  • We are a kind and helpful group.

We are "A Light In The Darkness" started for many who seek fellowshiping casually or quest-fully for crafting and helping other players, support for each other is #1 for us, yes raids are helpful and often desired and even needed as well, but not the focus as we are a young kinship growing fast, reaching out for other groups and aiding or filling in where there might be need even for other kinship's.

Kinship Goals

Kinship Leader

  • Kinship Leaders are Apollodius and Zepherzaper, the role will be held by one or the other at any given time according to necessity.
  • The Leader has just about all the authority and privileges as there can be in the Kinship, very often promotions and rewards will be given for efforts and deeds mentioned here after for the strength of the kinship same is possible for very rare times of disciplinary actions being taken by the Leader for the safety and same strength of the Kinship.
        (protecting the kin-mates from any and all negative or bad influences is first priority for the Kin-Leader)

  • Do to the limited number of ranks in kinship's a list of names of my closest trustees will be made known that it may be known to not question what they say for the rules sake as they have helped develop many of them and have always supported the peace the rules bring to the Kinship.

Kinship Officer

  • Rank of Officer is a privilege of toons/char that don't go inactive for more than 75 days, help out in supplies or crafting, fellowshipping with other kinsmen to help them through harder parts of middle earth and/or volunteer for anything for anyone asking for help.
  • Privileges: This rank will include kinship house decorative access and freedom to store and remove items from the kin chest.
  • Responsibilities: Knowing and upholding/enforcing the Kinship rules. This some time means dropping the ax on kin mates that wont respect the rules.
  • Powers: Officers can and may promote recruits to kinsman/woman but only to be done for reasons listed in kinsman/woman section. Also Officers can and may invite other players to the Kinship, while also having power to expel recruits and kinsman(officers only can or may be expelled by the Kin-Leader), this is only for very very serious acts that warrant the action such as consistently or repeatably breaking the rules listed on this wiki page, for example: player cusses in kin chat, send them a privet tell informing them that its not acceptable behavior and the if repeated they can and will be demoted. IF: if they are an officer u will need to inform the kin leader after the warning has been sent to them. (reporting the misbehavior to the Kinship Leader is always a good idea, even if expulsion has or has not happened therefore the Leader has chance to support the Officer in the action taken either by being a shield from the one expelled or do the expelling), if an officer is found abusing this right/privilege then he will be demoted on the first offence to recruit, if found an officer again and things repeat expulsion will occur.

Furthermore: As an officer you are ranked for enforcement, if needed, and if you are challenged you have granted right, authority and permission to exercise judgement in as though you were the kin leader as you are a literal extension of him/her while said leader is offline, thus is the trust that has been granted to the rank you have earned/gained. If you are further challenge it will be best to collect any info on the issue you can and send it to Aollodius for judgement to demote, dismiss or ultimatum those behaving un-kinsman like accordingly. This being said the kin leader(Apollodius) will stand behind the officers call in and on behavior correction. ( note : this does not grant immunity or right to judge inappropriately on others as they very well have the right to report any miss use of power to the kin leader and the rank will be pulled with possible expulsion from the kinship)

Kinship M.O.D.
  • 'Officers Have access to the MOD we encourage a mod from them but not to be changed so often in a day that it is of no value to those logging on at diff times of the day, one-two mods may be set as to information that will help new players and new recruits navigate through the game and the kin(personal promotions or sales are prohibited as well as requests) as often as desired it is Officers choice to post about desired raid/instances or lotro promo gear in the mod for advertisement for kinship , but never personal advertisement.(and as with any other chat/txt as mentioned, watch what u say, cause Apollo will)

Kinship Kinsman/woman

  • Rank of Kinsman/woman is a privilege of toons/characters that have proven themselves even mildly helpful to the kin or its members, and is a privilege held by those that don't go inactive for more than 125 days,(best helps if referred for a promotion to an officer by a fellow Kin-mate who experiences or sees the effort made).
  • Privileges granted to this rank will include freedom to store and remove items from the kin chest.

Kinship Recruit

  • Rank of Recruit is our foundation of the Kinship, giving many opportunities for grouping with more same lvl players and also chance of great fellowships and opportunities to help other players/kin-mates.

Rank Advancement/Promotion

  • Any and all members may be found advanced from recruit/kinsman(woman)to the next available rank if there found helping the kinship/mates often in any way from crafting to grouping for quest or leveling. When or if a kin-mate is found worthy of advancement it will be offered to them by the kin leader , if found by a fellow kin-mate to hold this potential than its encouraged for that kin-mate to inform the leader if he is not online or available.

Note: All Kin-mates will be expected to know these rules and hold to them.

Be Kind To Everyone

This is a basic rule and must be followed.

Kinship Chat Filters

  • Language: This is the firmest rule of all ; No foul language at all will be tolerated in kinship chat, anyone caught or reported using such language will be sent a tell addressing the first offence by the kin lead the founder or an officer( the offence will and should never be addressed in open chat channels i.e. kin chat) the second offence will result in a tell informing the player of a highly pending demotion with possibility of expulsion or not, third offence is termination from kin without further warnings or tells.
  • Lude chat or innuendos:(any subtle or deliberate sexual reference) any hint of indecency of any kind is second to the first rule, VERY MUCH NOT TOLERATED! Anyone caught or reported using such language will be sent a tell addressing the first offence by the kin lead the founder or an officer( the offence will and should never be addressed in open chat channels ie kin chat) the second offence will result in a tell to determine if the toon will be expelled or not, third offence is termination from kin without further warnings or tells.

  • religion or politics = bad mojo/karma: Such topics will and have lead to very bad moments in lotro history, no one is immune to the effects of this , not even I, so lets steer clear of these. The FYI on these two shouldn't need explained but it has been of sad experience that it must need mentioned so these two topics not allowed in the kin chat are as follows: Religion; no mention of God(this includes Saying the word God in any of your Chat), A God or human origins, spirituality of any kind, if love or appreciation is to be mentioned it will not be assumed that it is tied to a belief system just kindness from one player to another. Politics; no mentioning of special interest groups(slang or otherwise( these may include racial comments or gender/status comments good or bad)), no right wing/left wing parties, no mention of political leaders of any kind( not everyone is from the same country or cares whose who). It is understood that these topics are of great interest and importance to many if not all but it is to be understood that it is not for lotro and that lotro is not a chat forum for these topics those can be found elsewhere.

Kinship Involvement

  • Inactivity/Activity: Toons/Chars that are inactive for periods of 75 days at a time will be demoted, example: an officer that is inactive for more than 75 days will revert back to a kinsman/woman, further more if they continue to be in active till 125 days they will become a recruit and at 150 days they're expelled for inactivity. if the toon is only a kinsman/woman the same pattern follows.

Player To Player Conduct

  • Equalization Among Us: Everyone in the kin is an equal, no better no worse, we are all working for the same goal to have a good time in what ever activity(ies) we choose to undertake in lotro. It is very much encouraged to fellowship or group for quests and goals, to seek out to help other kin-mates if its with in your power or time frame to do so, to find players outside the kin that you feel could use help of any kind and fellowship with them or kin invite them (note that they have the freedom to decline offers of invite or help, asking them in a tell first is always a good idea).


  • Miss-conduct Between Us: Harassment will not be tolerated of any kind, this includes but is not limited to; negative tells or negativity to any kin-mate after asked to stop (this includes but is not limited too: slang or slurs against race or origin, belittling, hazing or any other form of communication griefing to another player(s) for any reason what-so-ever), ghosting or following for annoyance or distraction, name calling even if its clean but the player has ask for the behavior to stop, repeated requests for fellowship invitations being sent to a char that is not interested (they have the right and freedom in game to just decline, respect it), continued contact when request has been made to be left alone, or even repeatedly sending tells when players choose not to respond, etc. Always remember to respect other players in or out of the Kin.


( sub note ) If harassment occurs in or out of the kinship you have rights and resources that are in place to help you, first is the help option in the options panel in the help panel you can choose to submit what is called a ticket and it can be for all kinds of issues in game but for this topic I will mention the player harassment one... if you feel you are being abused at all you should submit one of these, lotro is very very very anti-harassment, example: first harassment ticket I ever submitted I waited almost to long to do I put it off till I almost lost power in deterring my harasser but the very second I submitted it I had a Gm(game-master) contact me in my chat log addressing the concern and info was exchanged and advise was given but most of all that player was never seen around me again. the advise is the same that i give you now: right click on the player name and select ignore player( this will disallow them from seeing u online in there following or friends panel), report them in the submit ticket area of help panel, right click on the chat tab they r contacting u in and select at the bottom of the list chat logging and do both things 'capture chat' and 'start logging' the capture option will copy and pastes the conversation as to what has been said in your lotro folder on you pc and in the chat box it tells you where is was saved(this will be awesome when submitting a ticket and having tons of evidence for you case), the logging will record the chat as it continues into the same folder system on you pc and finally players in the kinship cannot be blocked out from your activities by ignore but still can be reported and chat can be recorded but it is strongly encouraged to inform the kin leader as well that he may execute a judgement call on weather or not the player will continue in the Kinship or not with the same degree of acceptance that lotro has for harassment.
