Rats are scattered across Middle-earth, above ground and in deep dark places. They are always aggressive and attack in Swarms. Some are resistant to Cries, and some carry diseases.
There is not much more you can say about vile, crawling, squirmy rats - everyone hates to see these vermin around, except those who eat them.
