Bestowal Dialogue

'So you have decided to come, <name>! Glad to see you brought friends. We will need them.

'We are about to head inside. Be ready, Karazgar is a powerful foe. We must not allow him to claim the Herald of Winter and the Frost-horde!'

NOTE: This quest tracks your progress for the Tier 1 difficulty of the Anvil of Winterstith. It allows you and your fellows to resume adventuring in the Anvil of Winterstith at the furthest checkpoint you have reached in each weekly cycle. This quest will automatically reset every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Karazgar has come to the Anvil of Winterstith to bolster his forces by laying claim to the Herald of Winter and her Frost-horde. If he succeeds, he will have the means to wipe out not only the expedition of dwarves in Ered Mithrin, but to lay siege to all of the Northern Kingdoms.

Objective 1

Isvítha the Gluttonous, a massive frost worm, guards the entrance to the Anvil of Winterstith. You must defeat her to gain entrance.

Hórin shouts, "There is no time to lose! Karazgar may already be inside!"
Hórin shouts, "Karazgar! Where are you?"
Karazgar and Vethúg fly overhead
Náth shouts, "Above us! Look out!"
Karazgar shouts, "I promised to return, and yet here you are, eager to greet your own deaths. So be it."
Karazgar shouts, "The Frost-horde answers the call of Vethúg Wintermind, and you will be its first victims!"
Hórin shouts, "The drakes from the Withered Heath are coming from behind! We will handle them; you must press on!"
Isvítha the Gluttonous shouts, "What is this? Dinner has come to our doorstep! How thoughtful of you to spare me from crawling down the mountain. Now, hold still, little ones."
Isvítha the Gluttonous shouts, "Come, drakes! Help me catch these squirming little things!"
Isvítha the Gluttonous shouts, "Come little ones! Dinner time!"
Isvítha the Gluttonous says, "Why did I never learn not to play with my food..."

Objective 2

  • Defeat the Thirteen Kings

Dragon-spell spectres of the Zhélruka kings who died seeking the fabled Thafar-gathol haunt the Anvil of Winterstith, blocking your passage.

Hobgoblin Frost-caller says, "My life for the Herald of Winter..."
Hobgoblin Frost-caller says, "Embrace the Frost!"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "The harps are gone, the fires are out
The shadows gather all about
Yet from the north and far away
Still sounds the song of Mountains Grey
King or common, fool or clever
It lures us always, tempting ever
Brothers, can you hear the call
Of long-lamented Thafar-gathol?"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "We, the Thirteen Kings, lost our lives seeking Thafar-gathol."
Ingór I the Cruel says, "The dragon is ringbearer now, and beckons us forth."
Ingór I the Cruel says, "Turn back now, or you too shall be lost!"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "Your allies cannot save you!"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "Your will falters, 'hero'!"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "How much more can your mortal form take?"
Ingór I the Cruel says, "You will join us in death!"
Dóbruz II Stark-heart says, "The Zhélruka clan is mine to protect!"
Dóbruz II Stark-heart says, "You will not harm them!"
Óiko II Rill-seeker says, "I seek the Mithril Stream!"
Óiko II Rill-seeker says, "Get out of my way!"
Brántokh I Cracktooth says, "Say hello to my hammer!"
Brántokh I Cracktooth says, "Want to know why they call me Cracktooth?"
Óiko I the Bellower says, "Súmrutu!"
Óiko I the Bellower says, "Súmrutu Vrágomu!"
Kámluz II Stoneface says, "You face the Stoneface!"
Brúnek I Clovenbrow says, "Taste my axes!"
Brúnek I Clovenbrow says, "How would you like a Clovenbrow?"

Objective 3

  • Defeat Karagzar the Weeping Warrior

Karazgar, the Weeping Warrior, has ventured into the Anvil to claim the Herald of Winter and her Frost-horde. You must find and defeat him before that can happen.

Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "Still alive? I would be impressed if you were not such pests."
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "My final prize awaits, and you will not stand in my way!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "The cold saps your strength!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "Vethúg! Finish them!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "Your time is running out!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "You will meet your end in this glacier!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "My drake will freeze you solid!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "By my Morgul Steel!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "Vethúg! Attack!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "What is wrong, hero? Succumbing to the cold?"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "I have had enough of this foolishness! Vethúg, to my side!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Karazgar? Your grip on my mind is slipping! You are allowing these mortals to best you!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "Silence, drake! You will stand by me in battle or I will slay you myself."
Vethúg Wintermind says, "As you wish, Karazgar. You may have your way, for now."
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "You only delay the inevitable!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Surrender to the Frost-horde!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Your corpses will feed the Horde!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "We are stronger together, Vethúg! Allow me to regain control!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Give me your power, Karazgar, or we will both perish!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Freeze, insects!"
Vethúg Wintermind says, "Curse you, Karazgar! Your incompetence will be the end of the Frost-horde! Mother! Avenge me!"
Karazgar the Weeping Warrior says, "You may have slain Vethúg, but I seek a grander drake than even he. The Herald of Winter will be mine!"

Objective 4

Hrímil Frost-heart, the Herald of Winter, is one of the most powerful and ancient creatures in Middle-earth, and you have just stumbled into her lair.

Hrímil Frost-heart says, "We meet again, Karazgar! Are you quite finished playing with my brood?"
Karazgar says, "Hrímil Frost-heart, the Herald of Winter! You and your Frost-horde will be my instrument in the battle to come. We will succeed where Sauron failed and dominate this world!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Hahaha! No, I think not, O 'Weeping Warrior'. Your power over my kind is not your own. It was given to you by Sauron. And now that he is gone you are diminished! You grow more frail by the day."
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "I am a dragon of the ancient days, who fought by the side of Morgoth himself. Unweakened. Undimmed. I will not submit to YOU, insect!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "No- rather, you will pay with your life. For the centuries of torture I endured. For the enslavement and death of my SON!"
Karazgar says, "No, dragon, you must bend to my will! NO!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, As for YOU, mortals, how many of my kin have you slain whilst entering my domain? My door-warden? Vethúg, my son? So very brave and heroic. Allow me to give you a hero's welcome."
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Let me show you how powerless you truly are!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Begone from my sight!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "This ring holds power still!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Hah! It feels good to test myself in combat after all these years."
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Do not despair, little heroes. You showed great courage, but I have had enough of this charade. I did not survive centuries of torment to be bested by the likes of YOU."
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Now, feel my unfettered wrath!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "I am coming for you! Hahaha!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "What will you do now?"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "Run for your lives, insects! Hahaha!"
Hrímil Frost-heart says, "YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ME!"
