Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'I am concerned, <name>, by the evidence you discovered while patrolling the Gloomglens. The crushed boulder and skeleton would be enough to cause concern, but I find the footprint particularly worrisome. The might and stature of the creature suggests a giant or some kind of troll, but the footprint you describe seems more bestial. 'There are many creatures in this world of which we have little or no knowledge, and such a creature would pose a genuine threat to the Grey Company. Therefore, I ask that you track the monster to its lair and dispose of it. 'Be wary upon your hunt, <name>. I fear this beast is more cunning and subtle than its stature suggests.' Background The Ranger Himeinior was disturbed by the crushed boulder and skeleton you discovered while patrolling the Gloomglens. Objective 1 Return to the site of the first footprint The footprint you found lies to the west of Echad Idhrenfair. Himeinior has asked you to return to the site of the footprint you found and track the beast to its lair. Himeinior: 'I know not what this protends, but I fear a terrible beast lurks in the hills....' The footprints continue off to the south Objective 2 Find the second footprint The second footprint lies to the south of the first, which was to the west of Echad Idhrenfair. You should continue to track the beast to its lair. The footprints head west Objective 3 Find the third footprint The third footprint lies to the west of the second, south and west of Echad Idhrenfair. You should continue tracking the beast to its lair. The footprints continue west Objective 4 Find the fourth footprint The fourth footprint lies to the west of the third, south and west of Echad Idhrenfair. You should continue tracking the beast to its lair. The footprints head to the south-west Objective 5 Find the fifth footprint The fifth footprint lies to the south-west of the fourth. You should continue tracking the beast to its lair. Objective 6 Enter the Grey King's lair and defeat the creature The creature's lair lies to the north-west of the fifth footprint, south-west of Echad Idhrenfair. Himeinior bade you defeat the unknown creature. Objective 7 Talk to Himeinior at Echad Idhrenfair Himeinior is at Echad Idhrenfair, north-east of the Grey King's lair. You have defeated the creature known as the Grey King and should return to Himeinior with news of your victory. Himeinior: 'Well done, <name>! I have never heard of such a creature as you describe, but I do not doubt the danger it represented.'
