To activate challenge Mode, you must engage Nardur the Shield within 10 minutes of starting the first encounter in the instance. You must also not kill any boss mobs besides Nardur and Ilzkâl the Pummeler. If you have properly activated challenge Mode, when you confront Igash, The Devoted appears from darkness and starts to attack whichever player is near it. The Devoted can be tanked but he changes his target every once in a while. The Devoted summons Gazathrug Lurkers which aid him in battle. If you kill the adds, they just come back so don't bother. The lurkers can't be crowd controlled while they are near the Devoted, so it's best to keep them away from the Devoted at all costs. If you kill the Devoted, Challenge Mode fails. Igash aggroes someone, and doesn't easily let go because of Steeled Mind which prevents snap taunts. As he hits hard (around -800 per hit) it's best to move around the throne room when he calls out a special attack. He throws fire on the ground when he says: "The Fire swells for you, <name>" and he has an AoE attack which stuns all around called 'Crushing Darkness', which deals around 1.5k damage on each player nearby. |

BackgroundOnce a great and beautiful crossroads of Moria, the Grand Stair is a vile haven of many of the gathered tribes of Orcs. Igash, regarded as a leader by all of the varied groups, gathers tribute from every tribe to give to Mazog, the mightiest and greatest of Orcs in Khazad-dûm. The dwarves wish to unseat Igash's Orcs from this Grand Stair and stop Mazog from receiving valuable and unsavoury gifts. Objective 1
Many tribes of Orcs prowl the Grand Stair, south-east of the Twenty-first Hall. Geirr has asked you to defeat Igash in the Grand Stair without defeating any other members of the Moria Orc-tribes. In doing so, you will assist in efforts to reclaim that crossroads for the dwarves and prove your great worth to Sigurd. |
