Although the objective states to defeat Orcs, also Goblins and Trolls on the path towards the Glimmerdeep count. Note: During this quest, Hórin, will fight by your side. He will return to Skarháld at the completion of Objective 5.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'Hm... yes, it must be so. <name>, the survey expedition cannot continue. The risk is too great. I am sending the surveyors back. 'But you and I? Well, a few may do what many may not. These Orcs spoke of a deal made, you said? I wonder, what could it be? 'Stay close. If we become separated, use this whistle. To the Orcs it will sound like the call of a bird.' Background Hórin has sent the surveyors back to Skarháld, while you and he investigate the Orcs with greater stealth. Objective 1 Talk to Hórin or Use the whistle to summon Hórin if you become separated You should talk to Hórin on the path to Glimmerdeep. Hórin: 'Come, we climb the path. That is the way to Glimmerdeep, after all! Keep two eyes open for Orcs.' Objective 2 Defeat Orcs on the path (0/10) or Use the whistle to summon Hórin if you become separated You should defeat any Orcs you come across on the path to Glimmerdeep. Objective 3 Find the entrance to the Glimmerdeep Defeat Grísblog before Glimmerdeep or Use the whistle to summon Hórin if you become separated You should search for the entranceway to the Glimmerdeep, north of Skarháld. A large Orc-like creature spots you! Grísblog says, "Kill the intruders!" Objective 4 Help Hórin with "The Depth of the Problem" Glimmerdeep lies upon Mount Thrumfall, north of Skarháld. You should complete a full survey of the Glimmerdeep mines and whatever must be done to that end. Hórin: 'Take great care. Surely there are many hazards in a mine so long abandoned.' Objective 5 Talk to Hórin or Use the whistle to summon Hórin if you become separated Hórin: 'We are thwarted, <name>, but not for lack of trying. You have stood at my side like true nârod, and for this I thank you sincerely. 'Now let us return to Skarháld, regroup and try again!' Objective 6 Meet Hórin back at Skarháld You should meet Hórin back at Skarháld. Hórin: 'I keep an eye on you, <class>. You have worked hard, but the promise of some of our wealth is yet beyond reaching. Do you sneak away, to see at fortunes elsewhere, I wonder? Or do you remain at my side? 'Stay or go, my troubles are the same. Something must be done about these strange and wild orcs.'
