Help:User Account
While Lotro-wiki is free to read for everyone, creating an account and logging in is required to contribute or edit content. Your user account is your identity within the community; it credits your contributions, allows you to customize your experience, and enables communication with other editors.
This page covers the requirements for account creation, the functional differences between being a guest or a member, and how to manage your account security and credentials.
Email Registration
To protect the wiki from spam, we require a confirmed email address to enable editing.
- Note: If you registered and still cannot edit, please check your email spam folder.
If you prefer not to register an email address, contact a Director via Discord to request Ninja status. This manually verifies you as a human and bypasses the email requirement.
- To verify if your email address is confirmed and when it was confirmed by visiting Special:ConfirmEmail.

Troubleshooting
Common troubleshooting tips for login trouble:
- Cookies: Ensure your browser is set to accept cookies from lotro-wiki.com. If you are logged out immediately after logging in, this is usually the cause.
- Case Sensitivity: Remember that usernames are case-sensitive. Rogue and rogue are seen as different accounts.
Password Reset
If you need to change or reset your password, you can do so through the following methods:
- Standard Reset: Visit Special:PasswordReset to trigger an automated email. This requires a confirmed email address on your account.
- Manual Change: If you are already logged in, you can update your password at any time via your User Preferences.
- Manual Reset (No Email): If you do not have an email associated with your account or have lost access to it, you must contact a Director via Discord in the #account-issues channel to verify your identity.
- To check password restrictions for this wiki see Special:PasswordPolicies.
