The Haladin were the Second House of the Edain in the First Age. Unlike the other Houses of Men, they were a quiet and reclusive people, preferring to live in scattered homesteads rather than in large settlements or cities.

They eventually settled in the forest of Brethil, which was granted to them by Thingol of Doriath on the condition that they guard it against the forces of Morgoth.

The Haladin were joined by some of the Drúedain, with whom they shared a close bond. They remained few in number compared to the other Houses of the Edain and never greatly increased in population.

The Haladin took part in the wars of Beleriand and suffered grievous losses, particularly during the Battle of Sudden Flame.

At the end of the First Age, their land in Brethil was lost beneath the sea with much of western Middle-earth.
