Frerin (Northern for Frozen) was the son of King Thráin and the brother of Dís and Thorin Oakenshield. Thromur was his esquire. During the Sixth War of Dwarves and Orcs, Frerin fought more than once with Urro One-hand, taking the orc's hand as a trophy. He was killed in the final battle of this war, leaving no heirs.
Frerin's Court is named after him.
