King Eärnil I Ciryatan was the thirteenth King of Gondor, ruling from 913 to 936 of the Third Age. He repaired the ancient port of Pelargir and built up a great naval fleet. He later laid siege to the enemy city of Umbar in TA 933 and captured it. He was tragically lost at sea near Umbar in TA 936.
Eärnil I ruled Gondor for only 23 years, and was succeeded by his son, Ciryandil Úmarth. He was honored with a statue and plaque in the Worker's Tier of Minas Tirith.
