Category talk:Items
Update
I was reading through old discussions from 2007 into 2008 for this talk discussion page and came to realize that people were not satisfied with the Categorytree then but didn't know how to go about fixing it. And, as far as I can see it still needs a bit of work.
- The issue of having (Items) for each category. Do we keep that structure or change it?
- The issue with having both type and slot categories... example: Earring Items vs Ear Items. Back Items vs Cloak Items. Should we choose which style to keep and fix the other?
- Make the categories fit the AH or deviate? If we decide to go with how things are in the AH this could be done with some slight changes, or is there a different/better way, or do we keep it as we have it.
Those are the thoughts on the forefront of my mind atm. We could discuss this at our meeting next weekend. Rogue 06:59, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Doubled Items per Page Breaks the Reward Template
While updating Gilly Bracegirdle who sells this item I found that using {{Reward|Leather Leggings}} will cause this:
which is not the expected outcome. Furthermore, many many vendors sell items under same name, usually they differ in minimum level and then of course in power of abilities. They are indeed under the same name.
Suggestion and questions: If possible, but this is founded on ignorance, use a level=value in the template and if it is set uses the one of the two that is correct. This is of course the technically harder nut to crack I guess. And then, should we use same page and selective transclusion? Or should we use one page per item named such as "Item:Leather Leggings (Level 99)"? And then also have an item-page for the plain name which yields a result that makes the editor understand s/he must find which level/page to use.
The important part is probably that an editor does not always know that several same-name items exist for a certain piece. And when the template really provides a seemingly okay result, who bothers reading the fine print to discover that it is slightly off, up or down? Some do, but... . The same was posted at Item:Leather Leggings but copied here for the general discussion.
