Presents based on level

Given Magill's starting list of level 80 gear rewards and similarity of item names with level 60 gifts, I am wondering if the Mathom-hunter's gear has stats that differ based on level.
For consumable items, I wonder if the quantities will vary based on level (ie Mithril Coins present).
Until we can get more info in, I am including character level for any presents I add to the list.
We may need to add scaling stats tables to the gear item entries if they do use same name for rewards at different levels.

I don't think they're scaling. From what I saw of them in Beta, and from snooping around with the item scanner, they appear to work like the lootboxes - there's divisions every ten levels, and each division pulls from its own pool of items. Thus if you're between level 10 and 20, you'll get level 10 items. Between 20 and 30 you get level 20 items. Level 85 players get level 80 items. The stats of the items at those levels look to be static, and there don't appear to be items in between those levels.
Given the large scale of this topic, perhaps individual brackets should have their own sections, or even their own pages? For each level range you have both silver and gold rewards, and the two share items between them (many items from gold presents are also available from silver, just at a lower probability). That would help trim down what's already turning into a rather long and graphic-heavy page. Also similar to the lootboxes, if you go with separate pages, you could link the pages together via a template footer. -- JnK (talk) 03:10, 14 May 2013 (EDT)
From what I have been seeing and including the Mathom-hunter's Jackets you created pages for, I believe you are right that the rewards are tiered like the lootboxes (and similar to how the lotteries worked too). Ultimately we may want to have separate gold and silver tables for each 10 level tier, but still need more data.
So far the Mathom-hunter gear and the piles of metal scraps are the only things that are definitely tiered. Several other items scale based on player like the Morale and Rejuvenation potions. I have created disambiguation pages for the Mathom-hunter gear already added, but we need more rewards added and the tier they were received to know ultimately how to split the pages.

  • Correct, the Presents are Tiered every 10 levels, which wasn't obvious when I began writing the page up -- (I was more interested in the mechanics than the loot).
  • Yes, individual pages for loot tiers is probably good....
Given the (apparently) huge pool of potential loot, I suspect that it may be best to simply eliminate any presentation attempts as they will simply be incredibly difficult to collect information about and therefore to maintain over time. I.e. necessitating a large revision effort for every release.! However, creating separate Tier listings is probably a reasonable idea.... although I note that you have many things listed as "Level 60 gifts," Which were also gifts at level 80(85).
And one wonders if the Lootbox Tables and the Hobbit Presents Tables are similar?
Post 19 in the bullroarer thread Focus: Hobbit Presents has one set of stats someone collected.

I will take a look at both those threads to try and fill in the data. As for having some of the rewards listed as level 60 gifts, that was just the tier of the characters I was using to open presents and was added to help gauge which rewards are available at each tier. From what I have seen, it does not look like it will be so bad to keep the loot tables updated. The tiered Mathom-hunter gear is just a matter of time with getting all the items added in. We already have all the copper and silver scraps entries. The rest of the rewards seems to be consumables that either scale (morale and rejuve potions) or buff consumables (run speed boost) that have been seen as rewards in all tiers of lootboxes. The rewards so far bear some similarity to the lootbox tables, but seem more limited. The Mathom-hunter gear is the only equippable gear I have seen so far, and not seen any cosmetics yet. Ultimately I think we will want to have separate loot table pages for each tier of rewards, but for now until we get more entries I think we can make do with the one page.
Update - Looked at the links and especially liked the one JnK provided. Based on the tables in JnK's link, the total Presents loot table is fairly small so I think we can stick to one page of present tables for all tiers. For those items that vary based on tier (piles of scrap and Mathom-hunter gear) we can use single item pages with tables for variable stats like Goingbald suggests below. For those few items that are not available at lower tiers like LI related scrolls, we can indicate next to them which tier presents they are limited to. Also based on JnK's link, we could create sub-pages for each table column since the silver and gold tables share the same rewards (just shifted over by one column). Then we could just transclude the column into the relevent reward table.

I'd suggest to keep only one page by item, with a table of attribs in each page; as an example, I've modified the Item:Fine Mathom-hunter's Mitts but the Item:Fine Mathom-hunter's Mitts (Level 60) is still there. If the table seems too ugly, feel free to rollback; if the idea is kept, delete the (Level 60) item. :) No clue yet if there will be level 1 items, my lowest toon is now level 35. --Goingbald (talk) 23:11, 14 May 2013 (EDT)
Using a table seems doable. I already started something similar with Item:Pile of Copper Scraps and Item:Pile of Silver Scraps. If we wanted to have only one item entry for these tiered items, I would just need to remove the links to the tiered items from the disambiguate item pages. And yes there are level 1 versions of the gear for characters that are level 1-9. Check out Item:Mathom-hunter's Jacket as the first one that has entries for all tiers. Based on the jacket, we could probably go with attribute table. However, in place of all the ellipsis in the tooltip, I would probably make them look more like Item:Rejuvenation Potion with the X variables (except for level which needs the ellipsis for auto-categorization).

Wunderbar! keep up the good work.
Just verified the following and added it to the list at the beginning.
  • Note that the "Free Present" is defined "by Account by server!" Any toon can claim the rewards for that day or week for your account on a particular server. (One set of presents per server.) Subsequently log-ins by additional toons on that account will NOT be offered "free" presents.
