Should we create a kinship template to make every entry the same?

{| kinship-infobox
| name = Name of Kinship
| image = Name_of_Kinship.png
| website = https://www.nameofkinship.com
| leader =
| officers =
| description =
| progress =
|}

Should we force each kinship to have their own page? --Hinney 11:35, 19 March 2007 (PDT)

Or should it be one page per server - hopefully there will be different names for US & Euro servers - with Kinships listed alphabetically? DancesInTrees 01:41, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

--I support the idea of a template for Kinships. Very much. The EQ2 wiki site (eq2i.com) uses a template and it's valuable. I'm sorry to say I am not skilled enough at wiki code to create such a thing. Broogen 2Apr07

I support the one page per server. And I think the infobox should include server on it. And I haven't a clue how to do it either (yet). :-/--YuriPup 06:33, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

We'll get to it eventualy... Gryphen already started adding some of those templates... --Xander 06:41, 5 April 2007 (PDT)

It would be nice to create a category page for kinships like we do for items and quests and that will give us two methods to search for kinships. Something like

  • Create page for kinship using the <Kinship> (World) as the page name
Protectors of the Apple Pie (Brandywine)
  • Then attach two categories to the kinship page
[[Category:Brandywine Kinships]][[Category:List of Kinships]]

But I think most ppl would find that overwhelming to do. So when the this page gets to big i guess a simple alphabetized table listing "<World> Kinships". We then can include a brief header for each page

Splitting this page to EU and NA lists

Option A)

Split the 'list of kinship' page into two lists:
  • List of Kinships (NA)
  • List of Kinships (EU)
And update the Main Page to indicate
  • List of Kinships EU / NA

Option B)

Create a sorted table of Worlds for EU and NA that links to each List of Kinships (World) page.

Option C)

Do both but create sections instead of pages for the List of Kinships (World) since there's still just a handful of kinships listed.

Any Thoughts --Hinney 19:25, 13 April 2007 (EDT)

B) sounds good to me - even though some of the pages would be a bit bare yet (primarily the new EU servers) they're filling up nicely so I'm sure it wouldn't be long before they all in use. DancesInTrees 11:19, 26 April 2007 (PDT)

I just wanted to say that I will be keeping the Gladden list of kinships in alphabetical order in case someone notices my edits of that list. Also the current page format is fine but perhaps we should add a template to the kinship listing. The template should include name, size category (small, medium, large, and huge), casual/hardcore, family friendly (y/n), voice capable (y/n), main playtime (EDT prime, PDT prime, Euro, etc), last updated and description. Existing listing could be edited to add put the new fields in place. This format would add some basic info people are looking for in this type of guild list and would also have a datestamp so that people would know the guild is likely still around. --Bodha 14:13 EDT April 26

List of Kinships/New Layout

Just a thought... What do you think? --Hinney 01:38, 29 April 2007 (PDT)

I'm not a fan of the pale yellow inside pale orange. More to the point, how about 3 columns in each, then there can be a column each for English, German & French worlds. And the details need to be forced to a new line as the mixture is giving an uneven effect.
No that leaves too much space & still looks wrong. Trying headings instead with [RP] appended where necessary.
I prefer that (this). Not sure about the US worlds now though - should they still have 4 columns? Which way should the alphabetical order go?
moved to test page --Hinney 02:03, 29 April 2007 (PDT)
Not sure i like what i did lol, but I think 3 columns is fine.. yeah hte alphabetical is kinda transposed but this is easier to maintain when the server grows --Hinney 02:10, 29 April 2007 (PDT)

Page Protection

We need to devise a scheme to protect this page from bad edits. --Lotroadmin 18:42, 28 April 2007 (PDT)

How about lock the page, and have a separate page for people to add their kinship details or changes - obviously that means a lot more work in copying info across, but maybe not much worse than dealing with bad edits. DancesInTrees 05:36, 29 April 2007 (PDT)

Time for a revamp?

Perhaps it is time to reorganize the worlds by main language spoken instead of by region? Especially since server migration has been completed a long time ago. This would move the 'English' worlds to the NA kinship list. The NA list would then be renamed English Worlds. The can the be a list for the 6 German Worlds. French Worlds would include the 2 active servers, minus Celduin (which never fully existed). Russian category would just be renamed Russian Worlds. Sibannac (talk) 06:31, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

The Social:List of Worlds - server list - is organized more or less by language, not region. (BTW, "English" is a different language from "American.") This Kinship list is organized differently.
The former EU worlds tend to be populated by players in European time zones, which is another distinction marking the English servers.
This list, Social:List of Kinships is organized by Kinships on servers, neither by language nor region.
  • Celduin should be dropped as it simply does not exist. (done)
As to the content of the lists -- it has always been left to the individual Kinships themselves to add or update their information on the lists.
And for what it's worth. "Server migration" was a term applied to moving characters from CodeMasters run servers to Turbine run servers, not the physical moving of servers from Europe to Boston. (The Russian servers are not in Boston.) It also did not mean moving from EU servers to NA servers. CodeMaster's clients who did not "migrate" discovered that their characters were wiped at the end of the migration period.

Thank you for this info, myself and others I know were confused as to the ordering. Great explanation, thanks again! Sibannac (talk) 17:44, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Server Merge

Should this page at least have a note about the accuracy of this page due to the recent server migrations? These lists will be inaccurate because several of these worlds have closed and their kinships disbanded or moved to other worlds. I do not have the permissions to edit this page. --Gestrid (talk) 22:20, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Legendary Servers

The legendary servers Anor and Ithil have not been added to this page yet. Should they go under North American, European—or a new category?

July 2021 Updates

I have made many changes to this page this month from adding missing worlds to adding info about creating a kinship page. If anything looks wrong or should be changed please let me know as this page is limited to who can edit it.--Oakheart (talk) 08:45, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
