Shrew

Shrews are small, mole-like mammals that live in burrows and among undergrowth throughout Middle-earth. They are primarily herbivorous, though highly opportunistic, and have a particular fondness for well-tended gardens, including those of Elves.
Though diminutive in size, shrews can be a serious nuisance. They possess sharp teeth and claws, and some are capable of delivering a mild poison that can harm smaller animals or careless gardeners. Shrews are persistent and secretive, making them difficult to control once they infest an area.
While they rarely pose a direct threat to humans, their tenacity, destructive feeding habits, and ability to carry toxins mean that even these tiny creatures demand caution in cultivated areas.
