Walkthrough & Notes

If this quest does not auto-open after the previous quest, enter the Trapdoor Lair, maybe walk out again if needed and move around the area. It opens eventually. The Trapdoor-spider Queen is found in the Trapdoor Lair[25.9S, 18.5W], to be approached through a narrow gorge from the soouthwest[26.9S, 19.2W] Even if you first clear the area, the queen will summon at least two adds. Bringing Fellows is a must, also for non-tank out-levelled characters.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue The queen of the Trapdoor brood can be found somewhere deep within the Wovenvales, in the north-west of the North Trollshaws, north of Thoroniel's camp. To put an end to the spider-threat, you should defeat the queen of the Trapdoor-brood, which has brought the two broods together. Note: This quest is intended for a full fellowship. Background You have slain many spiders and poisoned many of their egg-sacs, but that will not be enough to defeat the spiders of the Wovenvales. Objective 1 Defeat the Trapdoor queen The queen of the Trapdoor brood can be found somewhere deep within the Wovenvales, in the north-west of the North Trollshaws, north of Thoroniel's camp. To put an end to the spider-threat, you should defeat the queen of the Trapdoor-brood, which has brought the two broods together. Objective 2 Talk to Thoroniel Thoroniel is encamped south of the Wovenvales. Thoroniel will be pleased to hear that you have defeated the Trapdoor queen. Thoroniel: 'You have had better fortune than I, <name>, for I was unable to find the queen of the Flesh-gnawer brood. I believe there was a struggle between the two broods -- for what reason I do not know -- and the queen of the Flesh-gnawer spiders was cast out, or perhaps she was the victor, and the Trapdoor queen was left behind to face you in defeat. I do not know. It is a mystery, and one that I cannot resolve to my satisfaction. 'Our task here is half-completed, but we must be satisfied with this small victory for the time being. We have halted the threat, and that must be enough.'
