Hendrevail (Plural of Hendroval), a type of hawk, are scattered across Middle-earth.

Lore

Hendroval is Sindarin for "Winged Eye". This name was presumably given to them by the Elves due to their ability to see the world from on high. However, during the War of the Ring, the name has taken on a more sinister connotation. The Dark Lord Sauron is known to have many beasts and birds in his service, acting as his spies. Traveling adventurers must ask themselves -- are the Hendrevail they encounter merely animals defending their territory? Or does a darker intelligence guide them?

Background

Hendrevail do not appear in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. They were created for The Lord of the Rings Online.
