Goat

Goats are hardy, sure-footed herbivores found throughout the hills, mountains, and rocky uplands of Middle-earth. They are highly adaptable animals, capable of thriving on sparse vegetation and scaling sheer cliffs with remarkable agility. Their keen senses and nimble movements make them difficult prey for predators, and their sure-footedness allows them to access regions few other creatures can reach.
Goats are generally social animals, forming small herds or family groups that graze together while keeping watch for danger. Males can be aggressive during the rut, using their horns to spar for dominance, while females and younger goats rely on speed and agility to avoid conflict. Though primarily herbivorous, goats can be surprisingly tenacious when defending themselves, delivering powerful head-butts and strikes with their hooves if threatened.
In Middle-earth, goats are widely valued by rural peoples for their milk, meat, and hides, as well as their ability to navigate steep terrain that is otherwise inaccessible. Wild goats, however, are best respected as vigilant and unpredictable denizens of the highlands, embodying the endurance and resilience of the wilderness itself.
