== Description ==
Dwalin, son of [[Fundin]], is the brother of [[Balin]] and was one of [[Thorin Oakenshield]]’s [[Thorin and Company|companions]], together with [[Gandalf]] and [[Bilbo Baggins]], on the Quest of Erebor which is truthfully told in ''[[The Hobbit]]''. Long after [[Smaug]] was slain and the Lonely Mountain reclaimed, King Dáin Ironfoot sent him to the [[Blue Mountains]] to inquire as to why the Master of Thorin’s Hall had stopped sending tribute to Erebor. With the aid of the Sons of [[Elrond]], he uncovered a plot by the outcast Dourhand clan to raise their evil lord, [[Skorgrím]].

Dwalin remained at [[Thorin's Hall]] as its new Master, charged with defending the dwarf-realm from assault by both the Dourhands and the goblins who had begun to sneak back into the Blue Mountains.
