Wulgan (TA 2979 - TA 3065) was a warrior, craftsman, and Man of Rohan that inhabited Middle-Earth. The son of Norduil, a scholar and honorary member of The Spearborn, a group which Wulgan himself would eventually lead. He became an established figure in Eriador, and went on to become the head of many adventures into lands seldom explored. Wulgan was born into a poor family, headed by his father Norduil, who at the time attempted to support them with scholarly works and histories for the various noble houses of Eriador. His mother was killed due to accident, which Wulgan would falsely attribute to Goblin parties in the Lone-Lands, leading Wulgan to spend much of his middle-years there. Upon reaching the age of twenty, Wulgan was relieved from his position as candlemaker and decided to depart for The Lone-Lands, where he would join a group of fighters known as The Blackwatch. After traveling and fighting with The Blackwatch for nearly ten years, and suffering from an event which nearly ended his life, Wulgan met Ethrendrial, an Elvish woman with whom he would fall in love and eventually lose to disease and illness in the snowy lands of The North. During his last year of service with The Blackwatch, he saved and orphaned a child in Ost Guruth named Litherian. Litherian went on to become the leader of the reformed Spearborn, when deceit and betrayal led to its fall shortly after Wulgan's passing.

After The Blackwatch faded into obscurity, Wulgan spent most of the next few years adventuring and raising Litherian. During this time Wulgan was instrumental in the development and establishment of The Spearborn, an ancient order with its roots in The Trollshaws. Soon after he secured his position as leader within The Spearborn, Wulgan lost Ethrendrial to Black Breath after an apparent accidental brushing with a blade of Nazgûl origin. Ethrendrial's death sparked a determination and protective instinct in Wulgan, which he attributed in his late years to his steely defense of Litherian from an orc horde, upon departing from The Lone-Lands. His adventuring extended far beyond for many years afterwards, taking him all the way to the coasts of Belegaer, and then to the northern ice lakes of Forochel with Litherian and surrounding members of his Spearborn. Wulgan was an exceptional spearman of his time and lifelong supporter of the trades after being apprenticed to an old candlemaker in his youth. He was oft noted for his various eccentricities, some of which give rise to various legends and tall tales regarding his adventures, and beard, during his later years. Wulgan died in TA 3065, a celebrated face throughout the lands of Middle-Earth. A small poem was read at his burial, a burial which created controversy after Wulgan's body was stolen from its resting place. He was survived by The Spearborn and his orphaned son Litherian.

"Into the dark lands these men go, to honor there and there, words to fight. Into the sunlight and horizon we march and march, then fall one by one into the dark. For life is a fixture of infinite jest, its call to each man grows, then goes in a hurry."
