Harok, Son of Merok, is a simple man who lives in Combe. Together with his father he hunts the surrounding forests for rabbits, boars, and bucks. The meat and leather they sell to local traders as well as a few traders in Bree-Town. His father, Merok, has tought everything he knows about hunting, using a bow, and tracking animals in the woods to Harok. Together with his mother, the three of them have a good life in a small house in Combe.

A Turning Point

The past few weeks had been hard on the family. Their hunts had been little productive and they were short on both food and money. As Harok delivered a couple of rabbits to a trader he was asked by him to do a task. Deliver an important letter to a Hobbit in the Shire. For this, Harok would be given ten silver coins. Harok knew he would have to take this task, but he had heard the rumours of late. The roads to the Shire had grown darker and more dangerous. He would not make the journey by his own.

Harok went home and told his family about the news, while his parents did not like the fact that he was going on this long and dangerous journey, they also knew that they would not be able to force Harok to stay. Minutes later, Harok left for Bree-Town.

He arrived in Bree as the stars appeared on the sky. He made his way to the Prancing Pony in hope of finding a person to accompany him on the road, and to rest and gain his energy before the journey. While he had a nice meal, he did not find any heroes among the drunkards. He went to bed with little hope.

The next morning he sat by the fire with his backpack ready. He should have left hours ago, but he was simply too afraid. Suddenly, a great man appeared in front of Harok. He asked for a seat and what it was that worried Harok. He explained and the man introduced himself. Belgrandir, his name was. He said that he was going to the Shire to meet some friends as he was invited there and that Harok could join him on the road. Harok was relieved and happy. The two of them left Bree-Town only a few minutes afterwards.

The journey went swiftly. Belgrandir told Harok about old ruins and old forests that laid close to the road, and explained lots of rumours Harok had heard, and some that he had never heard before. When they finally reached the Shire, night had fallen and the two were lucky to pass the Bounders at the Brandywine bridge. Not long after, they found themselves feasting and resting at a Hobbit Inn. The Golden Peach?

The morning after, the two of them made their way to the Green Dragon, which was where Harok was supposed to meet his contact and deliver his letter too. The journey there was quick as Belgrandir continued to explain the glorius things they saw as they made their way to Bywater.

Surprising Yourself

It was morning, and Harok met Belgrandir, Lindeman, and Rowana in the Green Dragon. Belgrandir and Lindeman had a task they needed to complete all the way up in the Elven lands. And Belgrandir, would very much like Harok to join them, to Harok's surprise.
