Description

Personal Description; Standing tall, even by the reckoning of his kin, at six foot five his slouched stance from weary days of travel do little to hide his seasoned and towering figure. His dark raven hair is unkempt and matted, often tied back, with flecks of grey throughout and his face is a tale unto itself, bearing a crooked nose, broken by some unknown origin, and weathered features that display his long years of hardship. Despite this, he remains somewhat ruggedly handsome, often enhanced by his gentle smile that reveals the humility and compassion within, sometimes both complimented and contradicted by his sharp grey eyes; a window into his myriad of thoughts. His attire reflects his lifestyle; grim, humble and weatherworn, with hues of greens and browns. He frequently casts his worn olive cloak about him, of which has seen numerous patch jobs and years of toil, revealing only his weathered boots, often caked with mud. He can often be seen weilding a smooth longbow, of fine craft yet humble in its design, and a practical sword that harks back to the Edain of old who once dwelt in the now hallowed Barrows of Cardolan. Though he appears careworn there lies within the truth of his origin, and that of all fellow wanderers of his kind, sometimes revealed by the queer gleam in his eye and his towering height, though rarely, if ever, does he exert this demeanour. By all accounts he appears as naught but a dour-handed wanderer, one of but a few, humble and self-effacing in every manner, yet a wellspring of pride will arise at unnexpected times revealing the sophisticated man within, belied by his dishevelled visage and enforced by the one trinket and badge of honour he cannot bear to lose; his silvered star brooch, emblazoned with rays, clasped upon his left shoulder, symbolising his oath and his love of the Mariner’s star...

Personality Description: A wandering man who's element lies in being discreet and subtle, and as such can be discerned as having an unintended mysterious and elusive quality. A grim man, yet not unfriendly, hewn by the long years of his life, his personality reflects the once impressive form of a healthy man now wearied by his oath. Should you happen across this wanderer, perhaps, if his mood allows, you will see the layers of compassion, pride and endurance beneath his ragged visage.

Bio

Though he is of noble stock, to those who can discern, he is unimportant in the larger scope of middle earth's happenings. As such, few documents ever record the passing of 'Randir, the wanderer', save one; A lay, written anonymously after the passing of the third age by one whom has witnessed many lives of men and surely saw this dour-handed 'ranger' receive the gift of men.

"O' Grim Handed Man, from West doest come, vigil he stands till day is done. Through twilit hour doest he ward, 'gainst pack of warg and orc'n horde.

O' Grim Handed Man, with silvered star, pinned to his cloak, from West afar. Garbed in browns and hues of green, 'neath canopy he roams unseen.

O' Grim Handed Man, to stars doest look, the Shadow's cast he will not brook. Greater than a lesser Man, in sheathe his blade from Cardolan.

O' Grim Handed Man, thine hour doest come, 'neath Moon and Stars or 'neath the Sun? When Doom doest toll, thou willst stand tall, when thine kinsmen Elessar doest call!

O' Grim Handed Man, from West doest come, vigil he stands till day is done."

Friends and Enemies

Friends:

A maverick loner by nature, few have gained his friendship, most notably He who forged his star and bore his heirloom to safety, and some of the fair race who have captured his heart and loyalty.

Enemies:

All who seek to threaten the honest folk within the bounds of his watch, and those that foolishly attempt to hunt down the hunter.
