From the linked wiki article, JRRT had some strong feelings that tobacco just did not fit linguistically with his old languages (as it is an American Indian import) and denied it was marijuana.

In keeping with his views the article will always refer to pipeweed rather than tobacco except for in game items.--YuriPup 08:06, 4 April 2007 (PDT)

Also, we could use a list of the monsters/areas that drop the rare seeds that cannot be bought...

Agreed - I like the recent work on this :) I think we should stick with linking items like we have in other crafting articles though rather than listing their infoboxes. What do you guys think? --Hamma 08:53, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

ok, I can do that...I'll work on it some this weekend. --Seiggy 12:26, 17 April 2007 (PDT)

Pipeweed listings

Several different listings - I can see the point in them all but it's a bit messy. How about:

Tier Bought from farmer vendors Loot (and quest rewards) Crossbred Other
Apprentice Longbottom Leaf / Southlinch Sweet Lobelia / Rushlight - Stonecrop (Harvest Festival)
Journeyman Southern Star Hornblower Muddy Foot / Tighfield Choice
Expert Sweet Galenas / Shire Sweet-leaf Old Toby Dragonsbreath / Roper's Twist Lengalenas (Harvest Festival)
Artisan - - Eagle's Nest / Gamwich Braid
Master - - Wizard's Fire Summer Green-weed (Harvest Festival)

Mines of Moria Pipe-Weed Information.

The Supreme Level Pipe-weeds need to be added to this entry. Vendor: Fungo's Fuzzy Leaf Crossbreed: Gold-fire (Wizard's Fire + Fungo's Fuzzy Leaf)

It appears there are several errors with these recipes, though.

Fungo's Fuzzy Leaf Seed recipe generates 3 seeds, instead of the usual 1 for a vendor bought seed. I would speculate that Fungo's Fuzzy Leaf should be a world drop seed, but was placed as a vendor seed by mistake.

There is also no cross-breed recipe for Gold-Fire, only a "normal" field recipe that has the expected ingredients as the cross-Breed recipe should. Gold-Fire seeds cannot be used with any known recipes.

Pipe-weed farming updates

Pipe-weed farming underwent serious revisions not-so-recently in the November 2010 patch, along with the rest of farming, and I updated this page to reflect those changes as they relate to pipe weed...After I confused myself trying to use this wiki to find where the heck I was supposed to get those cross bred seeds recipes. Shire Sweet-leaf no longer needed for Back from the Brink?

Alright I'm a bit confused here due to incomplete edits. Last I knew a Lore-master needed Item:Pouch of Shire Sweet-leaf Pipe-weed to resurrect a dead character using Back from the Brink. I've noticed this page is changed but the specific pipe-weed entry is not. The skill's description no longer refers to needing "fragrant herbs". However, I cannot locate any official notice within the Updates or Patches - but I could have missed it. Could we get a citation for this? -- DoIHaveTo (talk) 19:28, 15 December 2011 (EST)
