I was wondering what we're going to do about instances? Should we make a prefix for instances such as Great Barrows? Great Barrows doesn't require a quest for you to enter it, so it shouldn't have Quest:, but Instance: in as prefix. Or what do you think? - Tjikke 03-17-2007 01:48

There will be tons of quests and items in the game so i asked for the two new pagenames so we can narrow searches. You can still do Instance: Instance Name or just create a page with the just the instance name, but if we want it to not be in the general page name we need to request that. I'm not sure how many instances to expect.. if it's in the 100s and not 1000s i don't think we need a special page name. Just my two copper coins --Hinney 18:11, 16 March 2007 (PDT)

Q - By going to a reflecting pool you can go to previous done instances. I only got 1 instance to go to because i only have done one instance in this world. (so excluding the intro zone). I was wondering if that instance will remain there for me to play forever or when i do another isntance this one will be deleted/unable to play? --Blakborn 04:39, 27 March 2007 (PDT)

Many Instances (such as the Great Barrows) have been re-worked as "Skirmishes" with Update 3 in November of 2010. Only some quest-line instances (not certain which ones) still utilize the Reflecting Pools -- Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2011 (EDT)

Challenge Quest - requirements for them to appear?

I would like to edit this page to have a clear definition of what "challenge" means. Poking around (including here) it seems like "challenge" on instance is possible if:

  • The instance is done at the lvl cap (for scaled) or at max (for non-scaled) on tier 2.
  • The characters are all at the lvl cap.

But I have yet to find a definitive answer (e.g. in an Update's patch notes, or a post from a dev on the forums). So, my questions:

  • Do I have that definition right?
  • Is there a difference between "challenge mode" and "challenge quests"? I ask because there seem to be some things that are challenge quests (see: Category:Instance_Challenge_Quests ) but there are also deeds that are described as being given by completing an instance in "challenge mode" e.g.Challenge:_The_Foundry
  • There is also a different set of quests that are at the server cap, see: Category:Quests:_Level_Server_Cap Are these just more challenge quests, or a different type of quest, or maybe a lot of those Instance Challenge quests should also be at the server cap but maybe aren't? -- User:Skalchemisto

"Challenge" for these is just "extra requirements you have to meet when fighting this boss"; the exact requirements you need to meet before the challenge quest(s) will bestow does vary pretty significantly between instances. (Non-scaled is simple- just raise the tier. Scaled instances it can vary)
No, there's no difference between 'challenge quests' and 'challenge mode'. Occasionally it just gets worded differently between deeds or quests or writers.
Yes, the quests at Server Level Cap are just other challenge quests. They're for scaling instances; on most servers they'll be level 140 (at least right now. current level cap and all), but on the Legendary Servers they'll be whatever that server's current level cap is. There may be some quests missing from that category that should be added, yeah.
(o obligatory ps: add four ~ at the end of talk page posts to sign it :D )
