The following is a summary of the LOTRO-Wiki IRC Meeting on 12/01/08 (DD/MM/YY). Among the attendants are (in no particular order): Anarchie| (Anarchie) - idle, xanderian (Xander), skunark (Lotroadmin), DancesInTrees, Eleazaros, Deyvid_MMO (Deyvid), Hinney, and Fedaykinx. A log of the channel was maintained for future reference to any who require it. If you would like to review it, please contact either Fedaykinx (who maintained the "official" log) or one of the other administrators. The entire log may be posted here eventually.


On the list were the following topics, with conclusions, which were generally discussed in order from top to bottom:


LOTRO-Wiki's profile/area of expertise, especially regarding Lorebook. What makes us different, when and why should people use our site instead?

  • We are open to absolutely everyone who wants to contribute; entirely run by the community
  • Considerably higher frequency of updates (than Lorebook)
  • Not restrictive; no long waiting periods to get help and support
  • Changeable website looks, templates etc.
  • Currently more of a "Complementary/Extended reference" to official sources, soon to be a content-rich stand-alone resource that goes far beyond the Lorebook and others.


Manual of Style - Colors, Tables, etc.

  • To be done in the near future, mostly ported from Wikipedia and other sources.


Guidelines & Policies: Which do we need, who will tackle (write) which of them, and what should be contained in each of them?

  • Migrate many of the Wikipedia and in some cases WoWWiki guidelines, and adapt them for our needs.


Image Formats: .JPG vs .PNG, and any other related discussions.

  • .JPG for large images, .PNG for icons


Logo: Which one, if any, should we choose? If none, what should it look like?

  • Come up with a list of demands for the logo, and perhaps have another contest that could include more of the LOTRO community.


Future Content: List all available in the Wiki with a template stating that it is to be released in the future?

  • Only list un-released content after it has been officially announced by a developer.
  • Use a Stub/FutureRelease for unreleased content.
  • Restrict the page information to quoting the official announcement and categorization.


Tooltips, tooltips, and more tooltips! Discuss.

  • Item tooltips and others should at least give as much information as found in-game, if not more.
  • Some changes required to the tooltips, especially items. A Decoration Type will be needed.
  • Look into addition of a coordinate thumbnail, showing a 300px map with a marker for the "point of interest".


Namespaces - Where will we use them, if we need any more?

  • Hold off on namespace seperation.


Main Page revision

  • The conclusions here will be posted on the Main Page talk soon, and modified.


LOTRO Naming (LotRO or LOTRO?)

  • Using LOTRO as a standard acronym.
