Zâram-mekhem, the Tarn-gate is a landmark within Gloomingtarn, in Gundabad. [50.4S, 120.5W]

At the border of Deepscrave and Gloomingtarn, the rune-inscribed pillars of Zâram-mekhem once maintained powerful wards preventing any but those of the Eldest House entrance to the sacred cavern. Now the runes flicker weakly, their power broken by an artifact of evil.

Lore

Bearing dire warnings in Khuzdul, Zâram-mekhem, the Tarn-gate, stands in the form of two great rune-inscribed columns of stone where Deepscrave meets Gloomingtarn. Once possessed of a powerful enchantment which forbade all but the Dwarves of Middle-earth from entering the hallowed caverns of Mount Gundabad, it was overcome in recent days by Angmarim who wielded an artifact crafted long ago by the Witch-king of Angmar: Máltgar, the Fell Graver.
