Did you see the discussion at Category talk:Faction Deeds? The category wasn't exactly equal to Category:Reputation Deeds. It certainly was confusing before, but I don't think this way is much better: now the text on the Reputation Deeds category page makes it sound like all those deeds reward reputation, which is true for the linked pages but not for the deeds in the subcategories below.
Also, putting categories into themselves leads to recursive category loops... like at Category:Council of the North Deeds.
